I have been taking the lexapro faithfully. Yesterday morning, woke up, did the ritual cold water splash on my face, and realized my left pupil was twice the size of my other one. the vision didn't seem messed up or anything, so went downstairs and poured some morning glory coffee, watched the news, then went up to shower for work. At this point they were way closer in size. So, incidentally, my doctor's office called to see how I was coming along with the lexapro and xanax. I reported that I felt much much better, which I do. But, my energy has turned into thinking about doing things rather than doing them. I thought about riding my bike for a good brisk ten miles for almost 3 weeks, but I haven't even ridden it even a block, I no longer get as active with my yardwork, and for some strange reason my left pupil was bigger than my right when i woke up this morning. and, now that i recall, a girl i work with commented that same thing a couple of weeks ago. so, asking around and about, no one saw a difference yesterday while at work. is this my paranoia creeping back up, or should i actually take 20 mg lexapro that my doctor thinks i am on anyway instead of the 15 i break it down to. ??? so, i am headed into the office at 1 45 today to check it out. i don't want to cause other health problems, i just want some energy and to know if this pupil thing is benign. then, at that point i would love to stay on the lexapro, but i look for him to change it. i am not familiar with changing ssri drugs, and hope that whatever he might give me dose for dose will be the same. and, that it won't cause a setback for me. i am taking about one xanax a day, the lowest dose. i'd love to not take that, but if i don't i feel anxiousness easing back to me. i have been on the lexapro now for just over a month. all in all it's good. anyone here swithch from one ssri to another, and if so, how was it???? Peace out my d.s. friends.

I\'ve switched about seven times, and I once read that it takes a person an average of eight times before finding the right medication for them. Oddly enough, after trying almost the full gamut of SSRI drugs, I came back to Lexapro. It simply was the best thing for me. Most of them work the same, so you may not notice a huge difference when switching, although the side effects were all over the place for me. Eventually, I felt like a lab rat from switching all the time and I began to wonder if the side-effects weren\'t worse than the actual depression. So I came back to Lexapro since it has worked the best and I\'m happy I did. The 20mg dose was what I needed to start, since things were so intensely out of control, but now that I\'ve dropped down to the 10mg, it\'s been so much better. I was starting to feel too numb and I tired. I too thought about a lot of things and didn\'t end up doing half of them. My energy and motivation were just washed out to a pale grey and I wasn\'t getting enough done. The 10mg has been brilliant for now and I can\'t think of switching to anything else. My psychiatrist said I should get to a point of total stability and ride out the medication for at least a year from that point. So here I am and that\'s my plan. Perhaps cutting them in half and doing 10mg would help you even more. Let me know what the doc says. Peace!
I wouldn\'t play around with the dosage too much. If you\'re supposed to be on 20mg, then take it. Lexapro is the first and only med I\'ve ever taken, so I can\'t say anything about switching between SSRI, except that you have to be weened off of one before taking the next one. I\'m glad you\'re well. Keep up the motivation. I know it\'s not easy, but you can do it. ~Oli
I too have the eye problem in the morning. It is my right eye and it looks larger when I wake up but it gets better as the day goes on.I am on 10 mg lexapro.I was planning on going to the eye doc but havent yet.
Thank you all for your comments on my journal entry, Brian, Oli, and Carolyn. Incidentally, the doctor said to go down to 10 mg for one month, then we will add welbutrin small dose in to give me the energy back. Thank you all for your comments and concerns.
