The MDS /neurologist that my husband has been seeing since we moved to Texasover 2 years ago has moved her practice. She has joined the Baylor Hospital system in Dallas.  The problem is that he has to have his shots of Botox for the Dystonia every 3 months. His last shots were in September and we had an appointment next week. That was stretching the time limit.  We were called on Monday and told that the insurance we have will not be accepted and we would need to find a new neurologist. Finding someone that gives Botox shots is a big problem. Since Monday I have been trying to straighten this mess out. We have to have a referral from his previous doctor, the records have to been sent to the new neuro, they have to be reviewed to see if the doctor will accept him as a patient, new neuro has to contact insurance to get the Botox shots approved and then we will be given an appointment. Now in the real world of hurry up there is no "hurry up" for this process. No one cares how my hubby is  struggling with the symptoms of Dystonia. Shots that are supposed to be given every 3 months will most likely be 4-5 months at the earliest. Before he started taking Botox he was pretty much bedridden and the pain was bad. I just can't believe that a doctor would do this to a patient. We have known for 6 months that she was changing locations and that her practice would move. But we were not told about her being in the Baylor Hospital system. The doctors with Baylor will not take medicare patients or the medicare advantage plans. If we were given the information in September we could have been working on this for over 3 months. This has really been a struggle this week. When I am not crying I am on the phone trying to speed things along. Is not working.......... Sorry for the long journal but it is soooooo frustrating. Prayers would be appreciated.

Oh dear Pat,i am so sorry this has happened to you both,i will certainly be praying hard for you both,it is digracefull that things like this happen, people in this country moan about our health service,i have done so myself on many occasions, but at least our health care does not depend on our ability to pay or to find an insurer willing to take us on,i find this practise unacceptable in this so called modern day and age,i hope you get it all sorted soon for both your sakes.love and many hugs to you both,Nell.

Hi Pat, don\'t blame the doctor, it most likely is his secretary. The same happened to me. I didn\'t know his movement disorder doctor was moving until we went for his appointment. . Our health insurance is going nuts. . Hope it straightens out. Benie

Prayers and hugs to you Pat, I hope next week brings you some success. I know you are an amazing advocate and I also know the struggle of fighting for care. I have found that if I just show up and tell them I\'ll wait while they straighten things out or I get to see someone, sometimes they think I\'m loopy enough to get something fixed or get me in. It should not be this hard, it\'s hard enough...you\'re so right. Give your husband a big hug from us and tell him we\'re pulling for you.

Prayers for you and yours Patti. I hope this mess can get straightened out fast. Alot of times Dr\'s will opt out of a government run pay system because the government is so long in paying thier bills. They do not care about the patientnts this impacts at all.

Thank you Friends , I appreciate all of your comments. We have a new primary care physician that will keep our medicine refilled until we get settled because of this new insurance. I was told today that the records department have been talked to and they will copy and send to the neurologist that is in the insurance system. Don\'t know how long this will take. The nurse did say that everyone has been alerted that this should be on the fast track. Hubby\'s feet are drawing and twisting more each day. But I am hoping that we are on the right track. I would appreciate continued prayers. Special hugs to you all. xoxopat
