14 months
On June 1, it'll be 14 months until my husband's PE/TE date. His dad and I hope and sometimes expect that he'll be released on Aug. 1, 2017. The last 6 months have indeed flown by, but not without its challenges.
First, there was my mother injuring her hip and needing help to care for my daddy back in November. I wrote about that odyssey.
Then, my dog nearly died with garbage guts-she ran the gamut of gastrointestinal issues, but, thanks to the caring Vet and Vet techs, they saved her life. I really LOVE my dog-she has been my ever devoted, overly protective companion since my husband was ripped away from me. She sleeps with me, rises with me, derives joy from every walk that we take, and I wish I could take her with me to my studio, but, that's not allowed. Oh well, she greets me with a tail wagging howl every evening I come home. As I write this, she is laying down beside my desk waiting very patiently. I suspect I'll need to take her out soon. Whenever I am sitting and crying from sadness, stress, or worry, she'll put her head in my lap and will start wagging her tail when I take notice and start to rub her chin. She's a peach.
The first part of February was hell-Intake. Radio silence for 2 weeks. Imagine my joy at seeing a couple of envelopes from my husband in the mailbox around Valentine's Day. It felt like Christmas all over again!!!
Then, the falls starting happening with my daddy. Had to make a trip in March to help and see my parents and when I saw Daddy, how frail he was, and his head, I just lost it. I had to remove myself from the kitchen to cry so that I wouldn't make him feel uncomfortable. It was so unnerving. That weekend was my birthday, and without my parents celebrating, my brother and his lady friend, along with my best friend of over 30 years made it special for me. We went to a concert, preceded by dinner, and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. After returning from home, I spoke with my husband on the phone, and I told him that I wasn't turning 50 until he is paroled; then we'll celebrate.
This last week, one of my students informed me that due to her atrial fibrillation ( she's 63), she needs to take a break for a couple of months. Well, that sort of blindsided me. I'm going to either have to rob peter to pay paul, or find another higher paying job. The home health agency I work for hasn't offered me a raise in 3 years, and I'm not that loyal-I've gotta survive. I submitted an online application for a customer service @home job. We shall see if I'm contacted next week. Hell, If I can find work from home, and make 9-10 dollars an hour, and work 20 hours a week-no problem. I'd make all my bills and still be able to set aside funds for my husbands SO registration fee and DNA testing fee....that's a sum total of $500. I know it's not my responsibility, but, it's something that I need to do-made a commitment to myself. After paying the car note, the min on two credit cards, I'll be good to survive on about $14.00 a day until June 1. Electric Company has told me that I can pay right up until June 3 without getting shut off.
I'm not sure if travelling to Chicago this summer is going to be possible for my continuing education......lack of funds. So, that's another disappointment that I'll have to deal with. However, if I do go, and put the hotel and meals on a credit card, and then wrangle some miles out of my mother, well, that'll be a business expense that I can deduct on next years taxes, and I'd get an even bigger refund. Hmmm...something to ponder. Things do have a way of working themselves out5
I've started exercising more, and in a month's time, I've lost 12 lbs and an inch off my waist. I haven't been below 190 in over 10 years. I aim to get to 175 in another month. My doctor made a referral for me, and I'm part of a 12 week free wellness program that get's me a free membership to the wellness center affiliated with my doctor's practice. The exercising has helped with my mood, relieve stress, and my pre menopause symptoms are less aggravating. Thank you OBAMACARE!!! Now, if I can just quit smoking, then i'd be really good.
That's all for now.....peace.
