ok so I am sitting here paitiently waiting for AF so that I can start my IVF cycle.  Meanwhile I have been reading up on things and found out that I should start cutting out my caffiene now as well as cut out the strenuous workouts.  I just lost 70 lbs and now I need to cut out the working out.... what am i gonna do.  My poor husband is already getting the mood swings and I havn't even taken any hormones yet... I guess it is the stress, the cutting of the caffiene and the cutting out of the working out.  And for some crazy reason all i want to do is EAT!!!! ARGGGGG!!!!! But I will do whatever i need to do to try and make this right.  All in all EVERYTHNG will be worth it when I get to bring my little miracle home.

I cut caffeine 8 months ago and that was the hardest thing ever because I was true Pepsi addict. I would drink a case (12 cans) per day. I was a mess. I started slow but finally did and I am now caffeine free. Only ginger ale is allowed in my own and decaffeinated tea. I feel so much better since I stopped. I also stopped the strenuous workout and started Yoga. Its so relaxing and it is actually helping my child birthing muscles (says the doc). I am praying that you will have a smooth transition into stopping those things. Just stop gradual because if you quit cold turkey, you may suffer from withdrawel

I was told regular exercise (strenuous or whatever it is you want)UP UNTIL you start your stim or CD#1; then only walking, swimmnig or gentle stationary bike. I also specifically asked about caffiene and they said that a cup now and then is fine, but I don\'t drink more than that anyway. She said if drank A LOT it would be good to start cutting back, but not cold turkey b/c that will cause your body to react to the caffeine withdrawl which isn\'t good either. Not that you mentioned this but I had asked about alcohol as well. She said during stim a glass of wine with dinner now and then is totally fine, but after ET none. Hope this helps. I think it\'s important to maintain sanity and if exercise or a little caffeine here and there helps you then you absolutely should, especially since you haven\'t started anything yet and you\'re just waiting, you\'ll go crazy! I know the feeling about the weight, it\'s so frustrating, but I just keep telling myself I\'ll be gaining weight with a pregnancy anyway so I just need to let it go. We can ALWAYS lose it after our baby arrives, and you\'re right, it will be SO worth it all by then! :) Hang in there!

Thanks..... maybe I will take up some yoga since I need a workout change anyway and like you said one every now and then should be ok.... but I will try my hardest because this is the most important thing I have ever done.

yup, they say no more than 1 cup of tea a day (which is 1/4 of a cup of coffee in terms of caffeine).

I also read a study that even 2 glasses of wine in the week before an IVF (while you\'re on the stims) can decrease the chances of success by 25%. Apparently white wine is worst for females and beer is worst for sperm count. So I stopped all alcohol and caffeine a couple of weeks before the stims.

Up until the AF of your IVF cycle, exercise is okay, but once you start stims, you want all available energy to go towards producing follicles. This goes for your husband too --> hard work-outs in a guy can decrease sperm quality.

Of course, people do all the wrong things and their IVFs still work, so take all this info with a grain of salt!

Good luck to you!
