Ugh

So.. I went to a new doctor today, to see what he could do about my HS, I was pretty sure I had a nasty infection in one of the sores under my left arm, I made sure he knew about HS and was going to be able to make me feel ok about it.
He SUCKED! He took a culture which I needed, when I told him how much pain I am in because of this he was like well just take asprin or tylanol. He said he had other patiants with HS and pretty much all he could do was give me antibotics and give me Cortazon shots to help with they get real big. He then procieded to imply that it could do with my hygine or my weight.
#1 My HS has gotten worse since I lost 40 pound
#2 I SHOWER at least if not twice a day and wipe my sores down with anaspetic and wear bandages on the ones that I can.
He made me feel worse, I was finally starting to feel optmistic and think that maybe just maybe a doctor would be willing to help me find out ways to deal with this terriable disease. Instead he sucked all the hope outta me. He put me on antibotics for a month.. and I will find out how bad my infection is tommrow, and if the meds he gave me will kill it.
I've decied to keep looking for a better Doctor who will HELP me and Make me feel like this disease is not my fault!
ugh. well I just needed to vent

Experiences like this are why I don\'t want to talk to my doctor about my HS. I KNOW I have to but I\'m scared that my otherwise nice doctor will slip off into the jerk zone that so many seem to enter when HS is brought up. The last one I talked to made me feel like I was crazy for saying I was in pain...like he didn\'t believe me.

Definitely keep shopping around for new doctor!! They seem to forget that THEY work for US!!! WE are the ones (& our insurance) that pay their salaries! So if the Dr. is crappy, then tell him he is FIRED & find a new one! I found a great PCP that is so wonderfully supportive & understanding (two of her office nurses have HS, too). And I also found a great surgeon who sees a new HS patient every month.

I think as HS awareness grows, Dr\'s attitudes will eventually come around. But I think it has a lot to do with how much exposure they\'ve had, or lack thereof.

Best of luck . . . keep looking & you\'ll find the right Dr. for you!!!
