Moving On

My dear Clyde,
3 months ago I spent several days and nights talking to you and God about the pain of being without you, the guilt of needing to move on, and the realization that I was beginning to open to a life with a companion.
The answers came, as I knew they would.  You have always been there for me and I know I can always reach you for comfort and guidance.
I have met a man, his name is Dennis.  He lost his wife after 43 years of marriage.  We have been able to talk through so many similar feelings.  In the process we realized we could move into a companionship that would help both of us enjoy the years we have left.  At 70 and 71 being alone is very difficult, at least for us.
It is your love, kindness, and genuine caring my dear Clyde that allows me this step.  I called your sister who a year after Wes died hooked up with Jerry, as you know.  I cried during the entire call.  She was so supportive and reminded me how much you would want me to be comfortable and as happy as possible.  I haven't told your daughters yet, that seems quite difficult for me.  My boys are very supportive and say the most important thing to them is that I find some happiness.
When Miles met Dennis he asked him to step outside with him.  He actually questioned him about his feelings for me and told him that his Grandma was very important to him and he didn't want me mistreated!  Can you believe it? I was mortified, yet felt so blessed to have a 22 year old Grandson care so much about me. Dennis took it very well.  Miles misses you so, so much honey.
I have a section in my heart that is so full of love for you.  It will forever be a safe place that I can go and remember you and us. Nothing could ever replace those 30 years.
As I write this I still have tears of disbelief and ask myself what am I doing?!  You are my love, my husband, my eternity!  But that is not so, except for the love for eternity, you are gone from me forever.  I will miss you always and know I have your love and support.
Eternally yours,
Linda
