Very bothered and sad -learned that my son and wife just separated.  They have a daughter.  I became distant from then - and my 2 other kids because of some issues.  The thing is my son started a relationship with a woman who has 2 kids of her own, do not know if from the same man and has a boyfriend.  For some reason, the woman and her boyfriend broke up and that's when my son came into the picture.  There was no communication at all between me and my kids but I adore my daughter in law and g/daughter so I called to ask what happened and to help.  At first, I spoke with the daughter-in-law - she claims my son said straight to her face that he does not love her anymore.  That my son does not give her and daughter attention; that even during his day offs and at home he is much of the time glued to the computer.  shortly after, I called my son and asked him why and what happened.  He said my daughter in law threw him out of the house and admitted that he does not love her anymore.  I said let's talk this over - the 3 of us and he agreed.  My problem now is what if I get them back together, what is the guarantee that he will not continue the illicit relationship.  Also, now that they are separated, every time my son hangs out with the other woman, he brings my g/daughter along - be it in the other woman's house, to eat out or movie date.  I do not approve of that kind of exposure.  My g/daughter might think it is normal and acceptable.  I know this is another trial.  I pray for understanding and strength and that God may restore my son and wife's relationship.

Oh that is very awkward and deeply disturbing. I went through this with two of my best friends and it was so unpleasant for everyone involved and sides do wind up getting picked. In this case the mother law chose to live with her ex son in law. Well the sad thing is he needs to realize that he may very well be this woman\'s rebound guy and whether he loves his wife or not he owes it to her to be honest and treat her with respect and not rub her nose in it nor sneak around that just leads to a lot of heartache for everyone. But the worst thing is depending on how old your grand daughter is she could wind up testifying in court should a divorce occur. He really needs to keep her out of this and think about his daughter. Parents so often forget to think about the children and what is good for them. Will keep you guys in my prayers.

I feel so helpless and blame myself that this happened. I was not present in their lives and had I been I could have done something. I recently got re-connected with my daughter, she started communicating with her brothers and one thing led to another they are connected again and somehow I got pulled in the loop. Having mixed feelings with what\'s happening and I welcome the re-connection but very scared to be heartbroken again. I\'ve been through a lot of personal storms - the cancer mainly and I was able to manage on my own. I\'ve become comfortable with being by myself; not totally happy nor lonely just fine where I am. I feel betrayed all over again with what\'s happening with my DIL and son. I am so confused and losing sleep a lot. I thank you and all my friends for being there with me - you guys have been my family ever since I became distant with my kids.
