I was leaving for vacation on Christmas Eve after work. This is the second Christmas without Sarah and I can't face the tree, the lights, the homemade and favorite ornaments. I got a phone call at work on December 23rd while at work. It was from the attorney who is handling the medical negligence lawsuit.
I thought that I had been through the worst of the worst when my daughter died.....standing there helplessly as the medical team goes through the procedures to declare her dead, working with and making decisions at the crematorium, planning her memorial service, writing her obituary. Is there anything more gut-wrenching than writing your only child's obituary? Apparently there is..........having to discuss with an attorney what type of damages to request in a legal action. How can a mother possibly put a dollar amount to the loss of a child's laughter, the Sarah-sized hole in my very being, the experiences that I will never share?

That is quite a dilema.. there is no price for the Sarah-sized hole, or for the things that will never be.. I would however take into concideration all those things and take the monies that are owed you. ((hugs))

There can never be a dollar figure on our child....but I guess we have to look at things in different and take our emotions out of it...which is impossible..but Sarah would want is best for you...as hard as it is we can not change what happened, but if by doing this you help someone else...that is how I would try to look at it...protection of others that I am making this decision for not only myself but for Sarah and all the others...it\'s hard...just keeps the pain going...but if you can do what your can for Sarah...Love to you, Sandi

I\'m in the same boat but haven\'t gotten as far as you have. Wrongful death lawsuit by killer, famous lawyer in NYC against the store that sold the gun WITH MY CREDIT CARD, unauthorized (no one bothered to look???) I know the deposition is going to be a killer when we finally get to that stage two years or so from now. It\'s not the MONEY, we won\'t touch one dime: it\'s the principal. Selling a weapon to someone who was VISIBLY ILL and then using someone else\'s credit card is outrageous. My heart goes out to you but you MUST do this, no matter how difficult, because in some way it will correct a \"wrong\" and you can use the money to help other kids. God bless you in this endeavor, remember He\'s in control.

I am also going through a law suit, mine is a medical malpractice suit... against 2 doctors (oncologist who failed to order tests in a timely manner to find out thatt the cancer had re-occured, and a radiologist who did a shoddy job with a report. (that led to the other doctor not ordering tests even though common sense would have told him to get a surgeon involved...)
I am going this for Jenn\'s children.. to help assure them on some financial security they would have had if their Mom had still be alive and it would have enabled thier dad to continue their home as it was.. in stead of the broken, oh so broken, family it has become.

Lori, I agree with Angela...Nothing, no amount of money will fill the hole in your heart. I am so sorry...Tight hugs, Linda
