I got a phone call yesterday from the Vice President of Medical Affairs at the hospital where Sarah had been treated.
The one thing that I had asked for and signed authorization forms for was a lung autopsy. We knew that the lungs would not be viable for transplantation but were hoping to finally get an answer as to what was causing all of her breathing difficulties. I have been calling and leaving messages with the Patient Relations department, asking where those results were and when I could expect them. I was notified yesterday that the autopsy had never been performed.
The organs, tissues and corneas had been recovered for transplant and then the body should have gone on to have the partial autopsy performed. This was not done. Sarah's body was released to the funeral home and the cremation was performed.
My daughter has been taken from me all over again. I am in total agony and don't know where to go from here.

Such sad news, I\'m so sorry you did not get the answer you were looking for. We are still waiting for Mogan\'s phone and laptop to be returned, 7 months of waiting. Peace to your heart , Nora
I\'m so sorry for your devastating news. Pain on top of pain, so sad. Know that I\'m thinking of you, wishing I could give you a big hug in person. Love and prayers, Lynette ~ Matthews mom
I so understand. We were treated very badly by the Medical examiner\'s office re: my son Eddie. So badly that I am putting in a formal complaint & I will offer to provide a sensitivity training. it is not right that you should be put through anymore. you\'ve been through enough losing your precious Sarah. then these so called professionals revictimize many of us. I am sending you love & tight hugs. Sincerely, Linda
Oh friend...I am so sorry. That is so heartbreaking...you will make it through this. This is a bad thing...but you know what the worst thing that can happen is...and that has already happened...give yourself some time to process it. You can do this...love and hugs...Karen
So many of us wait for answers, hoping that if we get them we will be better able to understand what really happened. Even though the answers don\'t change the outcome, still we NEED them and to be deprived, after such a long wait, is another layer of pain added to your existing agony. I am so sorry you didn\'t get the information you deserved. May God grant you strength in the coming weeks and months as you try to find your way in this world without Sarah. With hope for better days - Barbara/EvansMom
I\'m so sorry. I send you prayers for peace and strength as you mourn this new type of loss. It\'s heartbreaking now to have to \"bury\" those unanswered questions. Barb is right, it doesn\'t change the outcome but somehow it could have brought some type of closure to a part of things. Sending you love, hope and strength in the days ahead. Robin
Just when we feel like we can\'t take on one more disappointment/shock, one shows up and knocks us for a loop. Praying for strength for you and your family. Truly your friend, BarbaraWawa I
I\'m so sorry this has happened. I don\'t understand how people make such mistakes on something as important as this. I pray for peace and comfort for you. Hugs, Kim
I\'m so very sorry. Obviously they didn\'t understand the importance of this information for a mother to have. Such a shame. Such a terrible mistake. I wish you peace, Teri.
just so sorry. for some death is an every day occurance. it seems to lose its\' power and singularity. it becomes kind of automatic. i imagine that is what happened to your beautiful daughter. so sorry.
These set backs are so very hard. Such a simple request, yet denied through carelessness.
I send thoughts of peace and strength today.
Love and hugs ~ Debbie
