Anniversary

Today marks the last day my husband and I had together.  It was one year ago today that we spent our last day together.  I remember it well.  I usually work on Sunday, but on this particular day I decided to stay home.  I started the day by visiting my father, taking over some Asian food.  Around 6 in the evening I headed home.  When I got there my husband was waiting for me and we went shopping for food.  I especially remember the moment he came over with two large bags of chips, putting them in the cart.  He was all smiles.  After that we headed home.
Two hours later found us sitting on the sofa just talking.  He told me that he'd never been so happy and that he felt like he was about to achieve everything he'd ever wanted.  He'd just gotten his Financial Advisor license, something very few people achieve.  Later he had a business meeting that was held in a conference call format.  It took about an hour but he spent another 30 minutes talking to his business partner.  Again he reiterated how happy he was(his partner told me this.)  He came back out and we spent the rest of the evening watching television.
So, there it is, our last evening together.  The aneurysm ruptured later the next day and that was it.
I'm reminded of something he said that Sunday night, about all the great things that were about to happen.  Some would say that he didn't receive the great things, but I know better.  He was right, for although his life was over on this planet, he achieved the greatest reward:  Heaven.  And so with this anniversary, I say to my husband:  Thanks for giving me so many wonderful years.  Thanks for putting up with me.  Thanks for showing me Doctor Who, and Fraiser, and House. Thanks for giving me a daughter and grandkids, and a great son-in-law.  Thanks for leaving me financially secure.  Thanks for taking the dog out for a walk.  Thanks for letting the bird chew on your hair.  Thanks for smiles, and tears, and belly laughs.  Thanks for the baby that's in Heaven.
And thanks for reminding me that God will never leave me.
Till we meet again.
