The Car
I finalized the paperwork on my husband's car. My father wanted it, so I paid it off and gave it to him. He really misses my husband and wanted something that belonged to him. I have no idea what he'll do with two cars, but well, I knew I didn't want it. Too many memories.
So yesterday I needed to get into the car for the mileage. I opened the door and the scent took me back to when my husband was alive. It literally took my breath away. I sat there for a second, drinking it all in, remembering when I sat next to him as we drove around time. It seemed like it was only yesterday, but in fact it's been seven months. Seven months without the love of my life.
I didn't cry. I can't anymore. I've never been a cryer and the tears hadn't bought him back to me. So now the car belongs to my father. It will have a differnt license plate and a new address, but it will still hold the memories of a lifetime. Dealing with this is the hardest thing I've ever done. But I'll get through this. I have to.
