The Weekend

Friday and Saturday are the hardest days for me.  So many people out on the town with someone, and me sitting here alone.  So tonight, I decided to do some websurfing and ended up reading about the 1920s flapper.  They were so independent, a complete departure from the Victorian values of their parents.  Completely scandalous.  When I think of them, I wonder if they rejected the values because they saw how their mothers ended up.  Many of them had to have been widows and most likely depended on a male relative to get them through.  Some probably ended up in loveless marriages, all so they could survive. 
I guess I'm saying that we twenty-first century women are so lucky to have choices.  Many in our group have expressed the desire to remain single.  Some are not sure.  In either case, I think for most of us, we're free to choose.
Back to Betty Boop.  I'm actually listening to some of the songs from the 1920s and  Helen Kane the singer who Betty Boop is based on.
Anyhow, it took my mind off of the weekend.
