Stress
So I cut the salt out and found my blood pressure was going up whenever I was in clinicals. This is back in the day when I was in nursing school. I ended up dropping out of the whole program due to this stress related problem.
Flash forward 4 years. Again, I cut the salt out and my blood pressure remained high. This in spite of the medication I was on. It happened right after my husband passed. I got rid of the medication, and just started working on my stress level. It was hard, but the blood pressure went down to almost normal
Yesterday, I checked my blood pressure. Can you belive it was 168/108. It was before I found my new apartment. I'm off salt, so immediately knew what was causing it. That's why I moved so fast on this. Well, today, I'm happy to report, my blood pressure is 150/98. Not good. But imagine an 18 point drop over night.
Stress is indeed a killer. It leads to heart disease, cancer, back pains, just about anything you can think of.
We widows/widowers have got to be careful about added stressors.
