Sad day
A A good man in our community who ran a garden centre with his wife, got killed today while helping someone else who was in an accident on the freeway. He was helping a truck drivers put out flares to avoid the first accident and another truck crashed into the crashed vehicle and killed him.
I had a relative killed in a similar way while helping out.
I remember a time years ago my husband and I were on the divided highway and I noticed something strange ahead of us, like a white wall. I told my husband to move over to the passing lane and then came the wall of snow, and cars crashed on top of each other on both lanes, and people running around trying to avoid the crashing.
We managed to drive around the mess of cars and trucks to avoid getting hit ourselves. I wanted to stop and help people but my husband said that we would get hit too. I started to cry.......... As we travelled through the debris, all we could hear behind us was "Bang, Bang, Bang.....as .cars crashing into the others and then nothing. We were the last car to get through.
It was a very traumatic experience. We could see the fire trucks and ambulances coming on the other side of the highway, and we heard later that approx. 40 cars were involved, but I forget if anyone was killed. It all started from a transport truck jack kniving as he was probably trying to avoid a car ahead, but couldn't see if for the wall of snow.
So...... sometimes it's best not to stop........even if you want to........

Wow! What an experience. Does make me a little more aware of the dangers on the highway. So sad to hear about the man in your community. Thank you for your advice. I sure will remember if we are ever faced with a similar situation. Hope all is well for you. Birdy
I used to live up in Nebraska where I was born and I was always scared of driving in the snow. Those people were in such a horrible position and one day they will be rewarded for helping others and going through that horrible accident. I do really urge everyone to stay far away from eighteen wheelers and slow down as much as possible. Thank you for caring, Mary Anne F
