Sick :(

So I've been out of action for a few days....:(
On Sunday, bad-leg friend came over to watch rugby on TV and we had a really relaxing afternoon, eating crisps, laughing and being "normal". When he went home, I realised that for a couple of hours I'd been coughing - one of those annoying coughs that doesn't seem to make any sense. I didn't feel ill, fever, nose blocked so I put it down to just...coughing....not thinking that it would come to anything.
WRONG! Monday morning I woke around 3am coughing and hacking and coughing. I could feel my sinuses filled up and thought "here we go, head cold, just when my GP has gone skiiing, and when I really don't want or need one".
So since Monday, I've been coughing, runny nose, coughing, runny nose, and more coughing.....and just generally feeling under the weather. The cough is now a chesty cough although I think it's more post nasal drip rather than infection as I have no fever, it doesn't hurt to cough, my chest doesn't feel tight as it does when you have a chest infection and I'm not actually having to blow my nose that much, it all seems to be going south on the inside (sorry! tmi!!).
So I've been taking it very easy, DD is on school hols and decided on Tuesday night that I'm no fun when sick and persuaded us to take her to pre-adolecent holiday club down the road because her friends are going...so she's going to be there every day this week and next, or whichever days she chooses to go. Fine by me. They do loads of activities and I would rather she get out of the house and do something rather than be stuck at home with poor old me all day.
I went to the pharmacy yesterday hoping to get some miracle OTC cold remedy but all they would give me was a nasal spray which is in fact sea water solution, and some more gaviscon as the honey and lemon hot drinks I've been making are not conducive to acid reflux. So I've been doing the nasal spray (that stings because of the salt I guess!!!) and hopefully that will do the trick. As I said, I have no fever and I actually feel much better today after having spent almost 2 entire days/nights in bed so I'm hoping I'm past the worst. However, at the first sign of it developing into anything else I'll just call the hospital and see what they say. I could go and see another GP but to be honest at this stage I'm so comfortable with all my care providers and trust them implicitly that I'd be more inclined to take the dramatic route to hospital and see someone there (where they "know" me) that some unknown GP who might not give a toss about what they give me.
So for now, I'm coughing a bit (funny how when you are pg, you suddenly find a whole new coughing method that doesn't involve using your abs or pelvic floor!!!) and sitting it out. But even in my misery, I'm counting my blessings that I CAN'T take anything stronger for a very good reason and I'm thankful for that.
I'm 28 weeks today so this week I have to get my Rhogam shot (it's in the fridge and I just have to call the nurse and arrange for her to come on Monday or Tuesday). Then next week I have to do the dreaded Gestational Diabetes test and drink the nasty horrible sugary stuff :(
I thought I'd gotten away with just doing the blood work last week (2 draws, 2.5 hours apart, second one after eating) but my other gyne has different ideas. She told me that Dr C, is "old school" and that she prefers the newer method which it to drink the nasty stuff and wait 2 hours. I don't actually mind doing it but the only annoying thing is that the lab it 2 mins walk from our apartment and they won't let me leave the building within the 2 hour wait!!!!! OK, I'm not that worried about hanging out there and they are nice people who work there but 2 hours??? When I could walk home, give them my word that I won't eat, drink, do anything then come back....but no, I have to stay. The technician told me to bring my knitting :)
So I could have done it this week but I think on top of my cold, this is too much for me to cope with this week so I'm going to wait til next week and do it when I'm mentally prepared for it and make sure the ipad is charged...
DD and I got out all the stuff we've bought for baby so far and made a list of everything else we need to buy, which in fact isn't that much...
And,......*insert drum roll here* ........DH has a DAY OFF tomorrow and will be finally doing the cellar. Now I know he hasn't done it yet (and in theory that means that he can still pull out of the plan and go to work but would he dare???) but we went down there on Sunday before the rugby started and looked at it, looked at each other,  then shut the door (with difficulty) and came back upstairs. So at least we know what it looks like. Actually I'm quite excited about this whole thing - the stuff at the front is the stuff we know about (bikes, books, Christmas tree, decorations etc) but the stuff at the back is a total enigma.....there are boxes in there that have not been opened for 9 years, since we moved in. 9 years!! I'm not expecting to be able to reuse much but it will be good to see what's there and I'm sure 95% of it will need to be binned. I'm sure a lot of it we will have forgotten about and lets be honest, if we haven't needed it, chances are we don't now.
So fingers crossed ladies that by tomorrow night, we have enough room to put all the crap upstairs, downstairs and I can start thinking about a crib....and all.
I bought my travel system last week, it's currently sitting in the middle of the living room with nowhere to go. So hopefully it will be able to be folded away and hidden out of sight until we need it mid-May and not in full view for everyone to see and blocking the TV.
Incidentally I decided to buy the whole thing new because I got such a great deal on it. it's a Chicco trio enjoy fun in bright red (colour chosen by DD!!) and cost me 350€ instead of the usual 550€ saving 200€ to spend elsewhere. My friend who had her baby in November said she'd give me her crib but to be honest, I'm pretty sure I can get a cheap new one in BRU and that sell the whole lot when we no longer need it. I just feel like I want to but the bare minimum new as I know that her 2 year old was a pretty sicky baby and threw up on everything until he was about one, including the stroller and crib so I'm kind of picky about what I put this boy in!!
I was lying in bed watching TV on Monday afternoon with DD. He gave me the biggest kick to date in my side. Must have hit a nerve or something because I literally jumped out of bed! I was kind of like that feeling you have when you are just dropping off to sleep and jerk awake. That strong. DD thought it was the funniest thing. I've discovered also that he reacts to prodding and poking from the outside and also moves a lot when I eat hot food (as opposed to salads, sandwiches...).
So now I'm off to tidy up a bit and put my feet up again. May go shopping again later for a few bits and pieces or I may just wait until tomorrow when DH is doing the cellar and get out of his way for a bit!!

Congrats on 28 weeks!! Wow, time is flying by! Hope you feel better and I REALLY hope you get your cellar cleaned out!

I had to do the glucose test because they found sugar in my urine, I failed the 1 hour test and had to do the fasting 2 hour test, still waiting on the result for that, I hope I don\'t have GD!!
