my therapist told me that my emotional growth stopped when i started hiding behind my ed. she said i stopped maturing when i started numbing out. unfortunatly i think she is right. i am 39 years old, but only 12 or13 on the inside. i have responsibilities as a wife, a mom, and a working women, but i am sadly lacking in the emotional stability to deal with those things. when the stress level gets to high, i can't handle it. i deal with things pretty well for a teenager, but not acceptably as an adult. my heart is to sensitive. disappointment does me in. i bury my fears with my ed. i numb out when my feelings get hurt or have to deal with pain. my desire is to someday be a women and grow up.

I am not saying that your therapist is wrong but I dont think that to be true about you.
Emotional you may have put some of your emotions on hold but not all of them. For the reason that you mentioned you are a wife, mother, and a working women. Just because you dont feel things the way others do, does not mean that you have not grown. Mainly thou, because of the wonder person that you have become, you are someone that ppl can get their strength from. You have always come across to me as like my older sister that I could look to for advice and comfort. So I am telling you that you have grown emotional and that there are parts of all of us that have that children, teenage, and young adult in us. That is how we grow and mature and learn as the human race.

I think my 13 year old is much more mature than I am, and I\'m older than you are. Glad you have a therapist. I need to get back in (if I ever get home..)
I wouldn\'t focus too much on that comment about your maturity, obviously a thirteen yr. old couldn\'t have raised your beautiful kids and wouldn\'t even have a job. I can say everything you said about myself, except insert BP, only I don\'t get numb, I\'m constantly angry at something or someone.
I think you will get far with all of your support from counseling and friends, and definitely your family.
I was wondering, do you think any of your meds decrease your appetite? I lost 30 lbs on lexapro in 6 months... i\'m not sure what you\'re takin, but i wonder if it wouldn\'t hurt to take something that might increase your appetite a bit. Sorry, i\'m not trying to play doctor, i just always try to analyze everything.
I still think you\'re doing a great job! Remember not to focus too much on that statement :)
We all have to get better, especially people who have had a hard time. Don\'t worry you will get there and you have done the very best job you can and you are doing well, just keep working on it, this is what we have to do,it is a common goal to get better and deal with things. Life is not easy and you are not alone.
