Mo's mother passed away. We were called on Friday night and we left for NY on Saturday morning driving straight through with Marcus and Erik in the back seat. The boys were great, sitting fairly quiet and entertaining themselves for nearly 13 hours. We got calls several times during the drive from Mo's brother insisting that we had to hurry, that things did not look good and time was short. Traffic was very heavy the whole drive and we witnessed two accidents, one happening directly in front of us. Our last call was to tell us to come directly to the hospital. We arrived at 8 to find Mo's mother in very bad shape, struggling for every breath. She had not spoken or opened her eyes in days. Mo sat at the head of the bed holding her mom in her arms, telling her that she was there and that she loved her. I sat on the side of the bed holding her hand, her rosary still in her grasp. I said a prayer for her. Her family was all around her and I think she was aware of us and was comforted by our presence. At 9 she took her last breath. We were able to have one final hour with her and it was the most remarkable hour of all our lives.
