12 week Ultrasound...more Bed Rest
Technically I was 11 weeks, 5 days yesterday when they did my "12 week" ultrasound. The baby was jumping and leaping all over the place!! The doc had to actually wait until the baby settled down for a second in order to get a heart rate. It was 174. Baby's growth was perfect!
The down side was that the placenta is attaching right behind my cervix. So they do not want me to move...and we are still on 100% pelvic rest...the doc even went so far as to say to not think any dirty thoughts! Even arousal causes uterine cramps! I am obviously VERY early. I had placenta previa all the way up to a week or two before delivery with my girls, and am not worried about that getting in the way. (If it does, I would just have a C-section, which is fine.) I am more worried about what my doc said about potential for abruption with how it is placed...and that I cannot afford to cramp or have uterine spasms.
So, the unpleasant news is that I have already been on strict bed rest for 3 weeks...and I learned yesterday that I am the only one in my universe that harbors the delusion that I will be off bed rest at any time in this pregnancy. :-( My docs both talked to my DH yesterday and he told them I am unrealistically optimistic...they essentially agreed with him. I explained that a sentence of 7 months of bed rest (I had over a YEAR with Sophia because of a horrible weird complication) is extremely depressing. So, I need to take it in small chunks of time. They were wonderful and understood that I need frequent "re-evaluations" for my own sanity. Kind of like little episodes of false hope to keep me going. LOL It is a mind game, but it is what I need.
Essentially, they said they will see in 3 weeks if I need to continue to stay down. I am usually on bed rest by 18 or 19 weeks in Pregnancy, but this is CRAZY. For any of you who have never done strict bed rest, it is difficult to really imagine how it changes your life. I used to shower every morning and night. I am now allowed 2 showers a week. I can only get up to use the restroom..that is it! Not to let the dogs in or out...not to reheat something in the microwave or put a DVD in. I am not allowed to SIT UP for anything...have to eat laying down! I already have horrible reflux and have to drink and eat laying down...plate on my chest. Laptop, books, anything I do has to be suspended over my head one way or another, which usually means aching arms. I have lots of thank you notes I need to write, but my handwriting stinks at this angle and only Sharpies work to write upside down. LOL I love to read, but holding the books is actually painful after a while (carpal tunnel and such), so DH is loading books on my Ipod. I'll just zone out to those all day, I guess. I do talk to the family and Sophia climbs up and we play "Go Fish" and memory and such...but I can't see anything. lol
I do talk on the phone and text. Woohoo!
I'm totally fine with this, and my 3 injections a day...if it means we bring home a healthy baby. I am begging God for a healthy baby...and I have a LOT of time to do that!
Next week is the mark where we found out Matthew had died, so I am eager to get past Tuesday's ultrasound with great news! Tuesday, April 12th is when we go to Maternal Fetal Medicine for the big genetic scan and speech about how old I am....yadda yadda. LOL
OH, and DH has a job interview on 4/15 (tax day). We are praying!!

Well even though I know it must be hard to be on best rest, I\'m thrilled to hear that everything is perfect with the precious little life inside you.
Stay down as long as you have to...and text away like crazy if you need to so you keep your mind occupied :)
Prayers are constantly with you!!!
Wow!!! I got the speech at 36 with Annaya... So now that I want to eventually start trying again... I\'m worried about actually being able to conceive now as my children are all 5 years apart (Jelani 8/9/00, Symone 8/22/05, and Annaya 8/27/10)...
Oh well, the sacrifices we must make for our babies!!!
I\'m here if you get totally bored!
Hugs, Love & Rainbows!!!

It doesn\'t sound too bad to me... LOL! Being 31 weeks pregnant and chasing a 2 year old is hard work! In all seriousness, it really doesn\'t sound like fun and I hope in 3 weeks you\'ll be off bedrest and able to enjoy some normalcy! Big hugs to you.
Wow i can only imagine what strict bedrest would be like so early. You are a tough cookie and a great mom for doing all this to make sure your baby gets here healthy! You seem to have a great supportsystem too which helps I\'m sure! Hang in there, 7 mnths WIL some to an end and it will all be worth it!
Not even dirty thoughts? Wow, sorry, but I\'d go crazy lol. It\'s great that you\'re still so happy and optomistic...you\'re doing a great job so far making sure that baby stays in there and comes out happy and healthy! I\'m wishing you the best
Wow! I\'m so happy you got to see your little one and I think it is absolutely fantastic that you have such a positive attitude - really inspirational actually! :) Like you said, a healthy baby will make it all worthwhile and the bright side is that you can make him/her feel guilty well into their teenage years with that story!!
You sound so positive! I could learn a lot from you. :) I\'m so glad your LO is thriving, you\'re such a great mom! And you\'ll be into the 2T soon, so that\'s wonderful. :)
You are so positive about everything! I was on bedrest for 2 days [and not strict bedrest] and I couldn\'t stand it! You are amazing for being able to go thru all that. I\'m so happy you and baby are doing well though. I pray things continue to go well and you get to bring home a happy and healthy baby! =]
I am soo glad to hear everything is going well with the baby! I feel bad that you still have to be on bedrest but it sounds like you are positive and are ready to be a trooper about everything! Lots of positive thoughts and prayers for you and the baby!!
I am hoping that time flies by for you these next 3 weeks!
