12 steps for freethinkers - basic principles
I have been working through steps 1 and 2 of the book "the alternative 12 steps", and I have to say that it is really inspiring. I am starting to understand the basic principles that are building the foundation of the 12 steps. It is an approach for here and now by saying:
"we cannot eliminate our problems from our past, present or future, but the 12 steps can help to deal with what has been, what is now and what will be in the future". Therefore, our only chance for changing, growing, and living well is in the present instant.
This "just for now" principle is essential, but I am realizing that I am falling back to an aspiration to master all the problems just now. I am realizing that I have to continue to learn to look just at now and here. The journey seems still to be long, but I am motivated to continue.
