12/9/2014 Saw Some Houses Yesterday!
There's a nice brick ranch (on 1/2 acre) on a quiet street that I like, & I'll be seeing more of those. Not into the new constructions down here. They have no personality at all.
I saw on the weather channel that Southern NY is getting a Nor'Easter. Rain, mostly. Called my neighbor Phil & asked if the power goes out, please start the generator, as I would like some food to come home to. (LOL!) RolyPoly cat is doing good, house hasn't blown up off of the foundation yet...
I must say, the pace of life here in N.C. is UNLIKE N.Y. People stop for red lights, hold the door for you, look you in the eye & say hello. And MORE! NY is starting to suck, big time. And, houses? I can get twice the house for the same money down here. I don't need a 2000 sq.ft. house on 1/2 acre... but for $109,900? Looking quite attractive... My little 1000 sq.ft. village house on .1 acre was $125K. Yeah. Gas prices are 50 cents to a dollar a gallon cheaper here. NY lumps so much by way of state taxes for revenue on gasoline- it's pathetic.
It's starting to make sense. Buy here & be patient for some dividends to pay out, then take a month vacation in Hawaii. Much more value for my money & 15 minutes or so from my sister. Neurological services in Asheville, less than an hour away. Looks like I have what I need down here. We'll see what tomorrow holds for more brick ranches.
Love to all my DS friends!

Sounds ideal ! Good luck with your house hunting. I\'m in Charlotte, moved here from up north as well and agree the housing is so much more affordable.
Hugs, Patricia :-)
Good luck.Hope you find something that you love and will be happy in
Boy it sure sounds like a move to the Carolinas would be financially smart not to mention the better weather. Keep us posted. Love ya
