12/6/2014 Day 2 Of My Travels

I'm driving to North Carolina (by myself!) to visit my middle sister & look at some land & some houses in her area. Yesterday, I got up at 6 am, finished packing the trunk & left icky NY around 9:30am, made 2 stops & got to my hotel in Harrisonburg, VA by about 5-ish.
One of the stops made me realize how small this world is. I pull into a random McDonald's in Maryland to get coffee & lunch. I get out of the car & have to wait to cross the parking lot. I waited for a white SUV. When I looked at the plates- NY plates. When I looked at the dealer tag- a Honda dealer in Poughkeepsie NY. I grew up in Poughkeepsie NY!!!!!!!!!! I chatted with the ladies while waiting to place my order. They were on their way home from a Thanksgiving visit in S.C.
Had a hard time sleeping last night. Not that it's a hotel. Fuckin' outta control kids running up & down the hall, slamming doors, etc. You know what kids do when parents are staying on another floor in a hotel! I was ready for sleep at 8pm. I poked my head out twice to ask them to settle down. Finally at 11:30, I call down to the front desk & describe what is going on. 5 minutes later, the kids shut the fuck up. Not one peep.
This morning, I found out why so many kids are running amok. When I went down to get my complimentary coffee, I met a nice man in the elevator with 2 quiet boys by his side. He remarked about the Lego tournament at the University here in Harrisonburg. I wished him & his boys luck, he whispers "I hope they don't win, because the next Lego tournament will be in Florida". I get what he's saying! I do hope the boys win regardless.
There are so many folks checking out this morning, I could not find a cart to load my luggage on. No biggie to wait a little bit. Give a chance for some traffic to clear out. Also, no time schedule to meet!
I have 3 neighbors watching the house. Liz next door is feeding the cat. Dave next door on the other side is coming in to play with RolyPoly daily & my neighbor 2 houses down will check the house for mechanical problems & start the generator if we lose power up there. Not anticipating it- it's supposed to be in the 40's for this week in the Catskills.
Much love to my DS friends!
P.S. Those of us with pets? I have to laugh at us. I opened up the computer this morning & saw how damn many cat hairs are on my computer. I'm gonna get me a coffee mug that says "Everything tastes better with cat hair in it". My sister has 8 (I think) cats. My allergies are going to be in warp drive for the week...

Honey, you should have called the front desk sooner. As for cats, I have 2 and I could not imagine not being with my fur babies. Loving, sweet cats, when they want to be. Have fun with your sister Hugs

I hope you have a great visit with your sister ! What part of the state is she in.....if you don\'t mind me asking ?

I love cats too. I used to feed a feral cat before he passed, my husband buried him under his favorite tree in our back yard. My two huge dogs are both 12 yrs old so I can\'t bring a new kitty into the mix for now.

Safe travels my friend !!

I so pray you have a wonderful time at your sisters. Good luck with checking out homes. I have two of my own kitties. My dog thinks he is their protector. Funny to watch. And the hair....OMG. I won\'t cook in the kitchen until it\'s been vacuumed and wiped down. But they are worth it. Love ya
