Christmas went smoothly, I have really enjoyed being back in Baltimore, Maryland visiting everyone. Ofcourse, there's always some drama, especially when the entire family was together. But, I have a whole new set of tools that I have learned in my 12 step program, AA, that helps me learn how to deal with with life on lifes terms. I am able to handle my family so much better sober and our relationship has gotten so much better the more soberity I have. I am soooo grateful.
I guess its just sooo amazing how content in my own skin I am if I do everything I am suppose to do to take care of myself. I am finally after all these years following directions, taking my medication as prescribed, getting sleep, eating properly, taking care of my addictions rather than giving in to them, calling friends, helping others, reaching out to my sponser, meetings everyday even on vacation, praying, taking care of my son and my new 3 year old puppy.
I have to say all this because as long as I can remember I was living in a constant state of choas dealing with my bipolar illness and drinking. It didn't get me anywhere, and I am grateful that I am still alive because I was soooo self destructive for soooo long. It is just such a nice breath of fresh air, that I get along with family now and can be part of the family rather than a run away!!! It makes me so happy! In Feb 9, 2011, I will have 2 years sober. One day at a time.
