Today's moment of cute: 1st grade, call and response song (each verse sung twice) T(eacher, singing): Did you feed my cow?S(tudents, enthusiastically, singing on the note G): Yes sir!T: What did you feed her?S: Corn and hay. T: Did you milk my cow?S: Yes sir!T: How did you milk her?S: Squish, squish, squish T: Did my cow get sick?S: Yes sir!T: How did she die?S: Ungh, ungh, ungh T: Did the buzzards come?S: Yes sir!T: How did they come?S: Flap, flap, flap T: Now YOU be the grown-up in the song and I'll be the child who answers. I grab the LITTLE chair from the corner and my baseball cap, put it on sideways. They giggle and mostly remember how the questions go, sing them with a few prompts. Afterwards one of them asks: "Do you like being the kid?" I laugh and tell them that yes, probably I have one of the few jobs in the world where I can pretend to be a kid for three minutes. "Can you imagine if I worked at a bank and tried to do that?" Good thing there was cute in the day. Kids go home at three, I run out to the grocery store, bring back food, sit at my desk until 10:00 tonight when the custodians kicked me out because they were tired and wanted to go home (and their shift was over too). Mega stuff to do tomorrow, taking a personal day and hoping I'll find all the papers I need before 1:00. Wish me luck!
