A piece of notebook paper is folded in half and is balanced on the door handle of my classroom.  (It's a lever, not a knob.  My school is newly renovated, I think it must be an accessibility thing.)  It is a hand-written message from one of my fifth grade girls, a quiet soul (well, around ME anyway).  She tells me how much she has loved being in the chorus, how she looks forward to singing in Middle School, how she has started taking voice lessons."I think I have found my passion," she wrote. It is not the first nor the last time this week I have been moved to tears.

What a wonderful gift your student gave you today. I love the way you began your entry--I hear the gifted writer in you :)

Thanks Jen. This actually happened last Thursday, I tend to try to write more in the present tense than past, not always successfully!

I find it surprising the way we touch people. I was a camp counselor and would run into kids that were my campers. It was the little things, things I had forgotten, that they remembered and that changed their lives. I don\'t think about it too much though, or it could make me (more) paranoid. :)
