The Inner Maniac is raving again. It usually happens when I'm overtired, hungry, stressed, driving alone in the car, or any combination of the above, although it has also now and then happened on a bike ride (maybe I was a bit dehydrated and overheating?).I'll get stuck on something that pissed me off - 3 minutes ago, 3 days ago, three decades ago, doesn't matter, and get myself so worked up I end up shouting/screaming out loud.Usually the topic is religion. Sometimes driving past a church triggers it. Sometimes it's a car bumper sticker with that damn little fish.I don't yet fully understand the mechanism behind all this. Physical depletion certainly contributes to it. The Nagging Little Mutterers, who egg on the I.M., have tons of theories: it's the Asperger's in your family, you're just like your Dad and sister, you didn't escape! Post-traumatic stress syndrome, of course! OCD! Attention Deficit! Road-rage and you're just turning it in on yourself out of politeness to the other drivers, like you did when you were a kid and mad at your parents! The N.L.M.s are a bunch of f***ing mental hypochondriacs.Whatever the cause, it seems like there are two issues I have to contend with: the trigger with the pain it brings up AND dealing with the biological. The shouting doesn't last very long, and generally by the time I get out of the car I'm done with it. The upset goes away, but the triggers and the pain? Just waiting for the next time.I'll be sunnier in the morning. Just don't say anything to me with the "God" word in it! (Yes, that would be my lighted fuse.)=====Afterthought:Funny, you'd think reading humorist Terry Pratchett's Good Omens or Small Gods would be just the thing to delight the I.M. (who is also an Accomplished Cynic), but sometimes that just makes things worse.

uh, just in case anyone isn\'t sure, all the voices in my head are S.L.D.: Strictly Literary Devices. The REAL voices in my head are the ones that tell me to go get ice cream.
LOL...my little voices are always trying to get me up in the morning...Lately I\'ve listened to them, got up dutifully, only to get back into bed within 30-60 minutes of supposedly having arisen. :o) You\'ve just inspired me to write a teeny bit about my I.M...I\'ll have to do that a bit later since (sigh) I\'m working to finish part of a paper before hitting the hey....Hmm...Nice to \"IM\" with you Fiddling Dear! (Gives IM-ing a whole new slant!)
Inner Maniac-ing. LOL - love it! Hope your paper went well - I\'m taking off to enjoy some beautiful weather on a short bike ride, then GRADES...
My IM gets going when I feel like I am getting stuck between a rock and a hard place. It can get scary!
