Tired of being tired.  I know I have a lot going on (and personally i think i'm handling it pretty well for a person with PD)  but it takes so long to do anything and i am feeling like i will never catch up let alone get ahead of the game.  I get up put the patch on take my other meds and i'm good till about 2pm.  Then the fatigue starts every day.  Some days worse then others for some reason.  Unbelievably tired to the point of just giving up on whatever i'm doiing.  Then comes bed time.  I get to bed exhausted and usually fall asleep.  For a very very short time.  Then it's Mr. insomnia.  Why can't i be tired at night like i am during the day??  Then and now here's the newest part of the fun.  When i do get to sleep i am awakened by awful, have to jump out of bed, calf cramps.  Last night i woke up in the middle of one and it brought tears it hurt so bad.  So i hop out of bed and massage my leg then back to bed to stair at cieling.
It's morning now and usually my productive time but after all that I feel beat down.  So today will be a wash.  I don't like this

I am sorry to hear about your fatigue and lack of sleep. My husband who was diagnosed 5 years ago, calls \"tired\" his middle name. Fortunately he sleeps pretty well at night although sometimes wakes up earlier than he likes. He also takes a nap after lunch in his recliner.....so even though you
you aren\'t sleeping at night maybe you could try taking a little nap after lunch so you would have some energy to do exercising for your legs cramps. I don\'t have a certain exercise for it, but maybe you could find one plus exercising for other parts of your body.
If you did take a nap for 30 minutes or more, you would have more energy to do the rest of your tasks besides the exercising, and get the cramps under control hopefully. and then you will be tired enough at night to sleep better. It\'s just my thoughts on how you could try to find more energy, etc.

Paula been there done that. Their is hope. You described my symtoms to a T. About 3 months ago the fatigue which caused me to nap every afternoon went away. I still occasionally need a nap. But I am sleeping better. I do take zolpediem every night, but I don\'t get to bed until about 1 am. For night leg cramps use your other foot to bend your toes up. I found this to stretch the ligaments and alliaviate calf cramp.

thank you Lynnie, i have never been a napper but i am going to take your advice and see what happens. I\'m glad the naps help your hubby so it sounds encouraging.. at this point i just want to stop being an afternoon zombie. and Alex, I remember when you were going through that i didn\'t realize it\'s gotten better so that is VERY encouraging. Nap is definately on the agenda today. Next leg cramp i get i\'m going to try your bending toes up technique... Thank you both very much!!!!!

Hi Paula,

This is going to sound completely mad, it is completely at odds with the other two responses but when I am tired, feeling a bit crap, a little out of sorts I find exercise gives me a needed boost of energy. I must admit it is the very last thing I want to do, I find a million excuses to get out of it but something like a walk with the dog makes me feel so much better. I often have to tell Freyja that she is going out so then I have to! I hope you are feeling bettter soon, I know how rotten that feeling is. Hang in there, I am thinking of you.

Hi Paula,
That\'s me too a tee also !!!
The thing that\'s frustrating is that I feel like the old me in my mind, especially if it\'s a beautiful day-ready to bounce out of bed but the body says something different.
But I still get up and watch myself move slow and arrive at work late cause I just can\'t move any faster and give myself brownie points for not giving up...you should too!
Keep well

Paula, I can attest to the hisknobs bending the toes up with the other foot. Since beekeeper told me to eat a banana everyday to get rid of the cramps I have. and they are gone. Plus they say you need to drink more water? For the exhausted part. I get they same way. It\'s like you are a zombie. But I haven\'t had any two days the same. One day good, next day not so good and anywhere in between . Frustrating trying to pin it down. But I have found the more regular I exercise. It favors the good side. Good luck..Brian

I WELL KNOW MY WAY IS NOT FOR EVERY ONE, I NOTE THAT JULIE IS ADOPTING AN APPROACH THAT DIFFERS FROM THE MAINSTREAM TOO.
I STILL THINK, FEEL AND BELIEVE THAT THE WAY TO MANAGE AND DEAL WITH PARKINSON\'S CONDITION, IS TO MEET IT HEAD ON, WITH EVERYTHING I GOT.

AS ENERGY CREATES ENERGY, I FEEL THIS JUSTIFIES ONE OF MY OWN PERSONAL MOTIVATORS, THIS BEING, IF PARKS COMES HARD AT YOU, YOU GO HARD AT IT.

PAULA PLEASE BE AWARE OF ANY CREEPING DEPRESSION, COULD THAT BE A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR IN RESPECT OF FEELING TIRED? HANG ON IN THERE AND, TELL YOURSELF YOU CAN AND WILL PULL THROUGH THIS MOST TRYING PERIOD.
GO ON, DO IT FOR YOU.
