another day
Hello all,
I used to come to this site several times a day. To give hope and comfort to those whose loved ones were so sick or to encourage those who slowly lost the most important person in their lives.
So many many people have left this world since I came here. My hubby gave hope to so many, and I want to say he still does. 14 1/2 years of renal cell cancer. A living hell some days and days that are very good.
He is have days that are not so good, today was one of them. He felt bad when he got up and it went down hill from there. He has been on Sutent for so long that his skin is almost translucent in some areas. Of course at the slighest touch bruises and turns red.
He cried today, the first in such a long time. I think he is just tired of the numbers that say you aren't doing as good as you used to. Too high this, too low that!!! One doctor this week and another the next week.
A day of rest will come one day. For all of us. I don't like the word terminal. WE ALL ARE TERMINAL! from the day we are born.
Spring is coming, a time of renewal. A promise from God. We must all die to be born again into Heaven. Last fall every plant died, this year they are slowly peeking from the ground again. Born again.
I would appreciate prayers for Steve and myself.
Hugs to everyone,
Wanda

My Sweet Wanda,
We all have those really \"down\" days....and difficult times. Steve has outlived anyone I have ever heard of with this awful disease. I know it is never long enough though. Ray has fought a good and brave fight too. No doubt they get very tired of it all.
It is my prayer that tomorrow will be a much better day for Steve. He continues to be a tremendous inspiration for all of us.
How are you doing, my dear friend? Your faith is amazing, and has taught me so much.
We all must remember that only the good Lord knows when He will call us home. When that day comes.....no doctor, medication, etc. will prevent it. Until then....each day is a special gift, which we must cherish.
I pray for you and Steve every day, Wanda. Please know that you both are loved. I\'m always here for you.
Much Love,
Ingrid
Dear Sweet Wanda, I\'ll be praying that Steve & you both feel better tomorrow!
Sending much love & hugs,
Lois
Hello Wanda! I too have been absent from this site. For too long I know. a lot of very special people here and I\'m sure that all of them, including me are praying for you both. Spring IS almost here. Bring on the flowers.
My sweet Wanda, Soft hugs from Texas ... Ii agree we all need are renewed. Bring on the flowers. One of Gods many miracles of life!
Luv ya
Annette
Hey, Wanda there are many who are still learking around the corners. I am glad Steve is still well & yes both of you do give hope to many. Care taking is such a tough job. Cancer drains the life right out of an entire family...
I am glad you mentioned spring. Around here it becomes hard to know that it is near. Keep on Keeping on sweet Wanda...xo
Chris
Hi Wanda,
Yes you and Steve have been here a long time and been through so much and have helped others a great deal. Steve is an inspiration to those who fear and those who suffer this \'terminal\' illness. It seems to me that the ones who get it early and get it out, go on to live long and well. Then there are those who get it a bit too late, and suffer with the slow - or sometimes not so slow - return and progression. And then there is Steve, who seems a miracle to me. He is one tough cookie, and if he dips down and feels blue, who can blame him? He has fought long and hard, and though his life is not what we would like it to be, he does have life. Eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart to share with his family and friends. God Bless You Both and thanks for all you do.
Love, Gloria
Today is a better day. We will deal with each NEW problem as it comes and they are many. Thank you all so much for the comments. I have been down as of late. Some issues with being anemic and low vitamin D. I think of Becca and know I MUST take better care of myself.
All of you are just the best!
Love Wanda
Dear dear Wanda - so glad that today was better than when you first wrote this journal. You don\'t need to ask for prayers - I remember you and Steve so often. I\'m not surprised at all that Steve, and you too, get down at times. This awful cancer thing is SUCH a hard road, and for the two of you, such a very long road. Though, of course, I know you wouldn\'t have it any other way - in this scenario, long is just the best. Look after yourselves - you are very very dear to all of us here. Very much hoping that the warmth of spring will cheer you both up, and help renew those positive thoughts.
all my love
Meriel
ps - I will reply to your message - yes, let\'s do it - and, you asked about the weather - should be spring here, but is still stubbornly winter!!! 2 inches SNOW outside - ugh! xxxxxxx
Dear Wanda, I wish I got notices from DS when my friends write. I try to check regularly, but, as in this case, I\'m finding myself late in responding to your journal. I\'m sorry about that and I am truly sorry that Steve is feeling so low.
What used to help M get his mind off of his illness was a trip home to Japan. He managed to go three times during the 8 years he had cancer. If Steve was strong enough and up to it, perhaps he could use a change of scenery. Is there any place that would help brighten his sprits? I always wished there was a relaxing spa/retreat for cancer patients and their families to go to. If I had money, I\'d build a place like that out here in Oregon.
Anyway, the strain over so many years has to be great for both of you....especially difficult is watching a loved one cry from fear and worry. I am thinking of you both often and keeping you in my prayers. Love, Linda
My prayers are with you and Steve, Wanda. I also saw this late, my updates are not there like they used to be so I have to go through and look for each one.
Be good to yourself... I know it must have broken your heart to watch Steve cry..but maybe it was good to get it out.
I agree with Linda too.. maybe a change of scenery.. 24/7 medical is not living.. So maybe you two can take a break and just get away for a bit, if you both feel up to it.
I so hope you are feeling a little better.. Always in my prayers.. Rach
