An update

Hello everyone,
I wanted to give you an update on Steve.  He is feeling some better.  Still has pain in the radiation area from the pulled muscle!  He can finally sleep on that sore side for a few hours at a time.  He actually went to church Sunday and was asked to help take us the offering and did the offertory prayer.  I was so proud of him, his voice was strong and not teary.  He has lost so much weight that his sport coats look huge on him.  I don't think he has been this weight in 25 years!
One night this week we were lying in bed and he was hurting so badly and he said to me, " we knew that it would come to this".  It's like he is accepting of what comes to him. We are not giving up by any means but it's like God has given me so much time  with him do I dare ask for more? I do believe that God has given Steve peace.  Yes,  I will still ask for more. I know that we will not leave this world until it's our time to go.  We have lost SO many good friends that died for many  different reasons.  Young (which I will never understand) and old.
I would like to share something that brings me great comfort. Dr Billy Graham, whom I admire so much was asked do angels accompany us into heaven?  and his response was " When a believer dies, the Bible says that God's angels will surround them and protect them on their journey to heaven" Luke 16:22
This was in July 2, 2011 edition of our paper and I have it clipped to my refrigerator. This article went into depth about God's angels and how they watch over us. He also cautioned that we are not to worship them but we are to thank God for their presence.  It gives me hope and comfort and I hope and pray that it will give you comfort also.
Much love to each of you,
Wanda

Steve also has angels surrounding him here on earth, and YOU are the lead angel. Treasure each day. You are fortunate to recognize that as the days grow shorter, they take on more meaning. With us, our dogged refusal to give up and that clinging to hope and positivity served us well in one way, but denied us those goodbyes that perhaps needed to be said. I will always believe that somehow, some way, Tommy hastened the end when he saw the words on the wall writ large, so as to spare ME from the pain and trauma. I do think that he willed it - cause it went sooo fast that last week!
You guys are a marvel........pray for good days and nights for you to come.

Wonderful to hear that Steve is able to rest better, and return to church. I\'m sure it was very touching hearing him give that prayer. God bless him!

We never have enough time with our loved ones. Like you, I truly believe that none of us leaves this earth until it\'s God\'s perfect timing. Thanks for sharing the article about the angels. That is so comforting. I love Billy Graham too.

Take care, Hon, and have a great day.

Lots of Hugs,
Ingrid

Wanda you do amaze my in your beliefs...and I am so very happy that they give you the guidance and support you need right now. I can remember those talks in bed late at night like they were yesterday. Cherish them..they are so special. Buddy accepted what was coming and he wanted to get his goodbyes in to everyone. He had such a huge heart and cared more about everyone else never himself or his pain or discomfort. If I could model myself after him I certainly would. We were never very religious people but in the end Buddy did ask for forgiveness of his sins and sat down with a neighbor and prayed...he always was afraid of what comes after because of the horrible things he had to do in Vietnam...I always told him you will never be punished for something you had to do to protect yourself and your country...I think he was finally at peace with all of that when he passed away...Religion leaves many unanswered questions...that is why it is called Faith...because you have to have Faith in something you can not see...which for some is very difficult ....I waver somewhere in the middle...lol...Hugs, Ellen

Wanda.

I hope your strong faith keeps you strong and the love between you both keeps you even stronger.

you have come this far, and miracles do happen as you know, by your sweet husabnd beating so many odds. Treasure everyday as I know you already do, I can so relate to his suit jacket being so big on him. it was the very same way for Greg on ourwedding day and we had to \"pad\" him up with many a tshirt to help the jacket fit.

Sedning loving hugs to the both of you, along with much understanding. Here for you always Wanda...Diane

Dear Wanda - I am so so pleased that Steve is resting easier and the pain is less. That\'s the most important thing - if you can sort the pain, everything else becomes easier.
Wanda - you are the biggest angel in this story, keeping Steve going, and keeping your faith alive through all of this.
All my love to both of you, a most special couple. I believe you have yet a long long road ahead together

Dear Wanda,

thank you for sharing the clipping from Billy Graham, when i read this, it did bring me comfort just knowing when Tim time does come he will be protected into a new journey of peace.. I also waver in the middle, as your friend Ellen mentioned and Tim does too.. I do have faith knowing there is something much greater out there that i chose to call God today.. In my own way i seem to get the comfort i need by just having a conversation with him anytime during my day/night.. Everyone has thier own way of religion, wheather it be as you and Steve have to the middle as i have, it\'s whatever works the best for that person.. I am happy you have what you have, it gives you your comfort and peace and thats whats the most important for you both..

I am so happy to hear Steve is feeling a bit better, it makes me happy that you & Steve are able to talk about these so important things before you both fall a sleep.. I beleive as you beleive God has given Steve the peace and acceptance and it\'s in God\'s time when it\'s the right time for your Steve.. Yes, girl, you both continue to ask for much more, we don\'t have the final say, only in God\'s world only he has and knows what the plans are for all of us.. Wanda, you are a strong women and a wonderful wife to Steve, i hope and pray you both have many, many, good days ahead of you for you both.. Just enjoy every moment to the fullest, it\'s something i try so very hard to do everyday.. I am very fortunate & continue with so much gratitude for all i do have today..
Love you,
Becca

Wanda, As usual your journal is to touching. I am sorry that you are having such a bad day. I wish as usual that I was righ next door to give you a cup of coffee and hold your hand. It has been a miracle the time that you have been given, and Steve\'s faith in the Lords brings tears to my eyes. You are his angel here on earth, the love and support you give is beyond measure. Big thoughts of support going out to you across the miles. Love Jane
