right now i'm reading a book about a woman that was taken captive in the mid-1860's by the Ogalalah Tribe. Its interesting and very intriging, for some reason i don't quite believe some of the story line, but it was supposed to have been a great seller back in the day. she was compensated $5000 by the Federal Gov for her captivity and was awared that because she claims to have saved a military fort from seisure by the Indians. this book coincides with the women writers that i have been conducting. i can see so many similarities and differences between the races and between 1860's woman and woman of today. we have so many of the same fears and dreams. as woman we have made great stides, yet we have the same anguish that woman captive had that day. hiding, starving, witnessing murder, rape and savagery. today we witness the same debauchery the same insane need for control and power that one human has for another. still, i have a hard time believing some of her writings.
