Dear Self
You have been abused and taken advantage of almost all your life, since you were a child through adulthood. Your pain has been heard and felt all over the universe, but you have not given up yet. You have power to change your world and you have the stamina to get it done. Many years are ahead of you and you can make your own road map.
Yesterday, you watched a program about some deep cave divers. One was very young and died during the dive. His body stayed at the bottom of the water cave (886ft) for 10 years. The diving continued for those years and many people past the plaque of young man that lost his life in the deep waters. One day, during a dive and experienced diver in that cave came accross the dead diver body. When he surfaced, he told the others that he would return to retrieve the body. One year later, he did return, and with a team of more than 10, they started the rescue. The man had a camera installed to his helmet and down they went intot he depths of the watery cave. (S. Africa) The young mans body was intact, only skelatal remains were inside the wet suite, his mouth piece still in place the rescuer suddenly became tangled in the guide line. He only had 6 minutes on the ground level of the cave. He did not make it, he died trying to rescue the young man. When the other surfaced to the top, they sent messages that the rescuer did not make it. After a while, one of the team members announced that both bodies had surfaced to a point the cave were they could be retrieved. This is a tremendous story of heartbreak, death, resurrection and closure. Let this be a message to you that although you have been dead and buried in the watery caves of abuse and despair, you can rescue and resurrect yourself to sanity through love and forgiveness. That young man remained in the same state for 10 years, so have you. You have been for 10 years in the state of traumatic bonding to a man that violently abused you. He knew he had you, after you shared your childhood abuse and the abuse your ex-husband inflicted on you and your daughter, he thought you would be in the palm of his hands forever.
But, you made it out of that watery cave alive and ready for the rest of your life. You have been re-born of the watery cave that was kept filled with your tears of sorrow, so deep was your cave that no one could have rescued you without risking their own lives. But, you could and you did. All those that for the 10 years supported you by building steady walls, setting up guide lines, preparing for the long journey with prayer and understanding love you and care about you. The counselors, police, attorneys, shelters, family, friends, food pantries, womens resources, cloths closet, churchs, pastors, employers, educators, all those that placed one stepping stone out of that cave, those are the ones that matter and the ones that will be there if you feel yourself drowning or slipping back into that cave.
