another update
I just have to share this. If you don't want to read feel free ignore.
Yesterday we went to the travel clinic. I thought I didn't need any more shots. Wrong - we needed Typhoid and Polio vaccine. Apparently India has Polio. I also went to for my yearly visit with my doctor. I have a clean bill of health. Mostly we talked about travel.
Last evening we had our condo annual general meeting. We knew there was gong to be some discontent as we had to levy a fairly large special assessment. Our condo was built in the 70's and we need new elevators and water heaters. One guy did some rabble rousing so we had a better turnout than usual. The angry guy interrupted the auditor's presentation to berate the board. in particular the chairman. Once he finished, the auditor finished and the chairman did his report. We each had to report: the budget chair, the social committee chair, the vice chair, and me, the chair of the garden committee. By the time we were done, the mood in the room had changed. The three of us who were up for reelection won my acclamation. The angry guy was nominated but withdrew saying "I think I have burned my bridges."
Today I went for a walk - our weather is warming up.
And I just got a call from Andrew. He and Tiina are coming on the 20th. I am so excited! We are having an early Christmas so they can be back in Edmonton on Christmas eve. We are going to spend Christmas Day with our neighbours as they are doing an early Christmas with their daughters. Cevyn is also going to be here for a short visit. So all in all, i am feeling better.
Last year we had a Christmas tree and a few decorations. This year we bought extra decorations - my favourite is the big snowman on our door. it has a light in it. Our door is near the elevator so it is fun for people to see as they come in.
I feel Lisa with me when I am doing Christmas stuff. She loved this time of year so much.
Lisa - I really miss our December planning and the last minute shopping. I know you are here and will be helping decorate but it just is not the same. I miss you always and love you forever, Mum

You\'re on your way to a great holiday, great trip and for a secure condo. Hugs, Peggy
Your upcoming trip to India sounds so exciting!! Of course we will need to see some pix.
Good thing that \"angry guy\" didn\'t get too out of hand at your condo mtg.
Sounds like a perfect fit for you Marlene, chair of the garden committee.
Hope all your get togethers coming up bring you & Joe peace & happiness, especially with Cevyn coming. She\'s such a wonderful young lady....I\'m so glad I got to meet her.
Love & hugs!
Vicki
Wow! Talk about a busy life! Early Christmas or late I\'m so glad you will have your family (even for a little while!)
Have a good day Marlene, please enjoy the feelings of excitement!
Big hugs,
Merrilee
Truly busy and fulfilling... I hope you feel Lisa smiling... happy that you are keeping the traditions... and feel her enjoying it all with you... Hugs Elissa
You are living life on life\'s terms and I know that I have said this to you before, yet you are a wonderful teacher for me and for each of us here. I believe I will always be a forever student on this earth side so I\'m truly grateful for friends such as you who continue to inspire me to keep on keeping on. :)
Your holiday feels as if it\'s unfolding in a very comforting way and oh, I\'m sure that snowman brings smiles. On my walk here I discovered in one driveway a Santa, Snowman and a Pig with a bright red bow around its neck. LOL! So many new cultural ways to be learning for us and I did hang a gorgeous evergreen wreath that my dad sends us each year and just buried my nose in that wonderful scent. It looks welcoming with its bright red bow, berries and pine cones.
I know you are busily preparing for your trip so savor it all.
Love your updates dear Marlene and would never \"ignore\" anything that you write. Just sayin\' :)
XO Joanie
You are an inspiration - Sending (((hugs))) to you. Vicki
Sounds like you have a good plan for the Holidays.
We are exchanging presents for the family on the 21st and we give presents to all the grandkids. Then Athena will be staying with us until after Christmas. In the past Sonija (Ahtena\'s Mom) did nothing for Christmas so we take Athena for Christmas and Santa comes to our house with loads of presents for Athena. This has caused some jealousy with Jim\'s wife because she realizes we spend a lot of money on Athena on Christmas that we don\'t spend on the her children. I had a frank talk last year with her and told her if it wasn\'t for us giving Athena presents from Santa she wouldn\'t have a Christmas and that her kids get presents from her and all of her side of the family. Athena only gets presents from us. Haven\'t heard a word about it since. So once again Santa is coming to our house on the 25th just for Athena. :)
Hugs,
Terry

Wonderful news - health wise. Sounds like you are on your way to an Happy Holiday Season. Enjoy!!!!!
The snowman on your door sounds so cute!! I love Christmas decorations with blue colors & snowmen.
So nice, to have gotten a clean bill of health. Do you have your \"things to see in India\' list ready now?? I hope there will be no unrest in that area. The group Issis scares the hell out of me.
I\'ll bet Lisa helped pick out the Snowman, lol. Enjoy your trip and all of the Holiday season :)
((((HUGS))))....Julia
India will be here before you know it. I am getting excited for you and your trip.
It is cool Christmas will be good for you, this year, early or not. The grandies always spend the night here, so they enjoy the tree and the gifts in the morning, Santa never fails to visit.
Sending big hugs
