Update

Just a bit of an update re the shooting at our parliament building.  As you know, we Canadians are a bit of a peace loving nation.  So the events in Ottawa were a bit shocking.  Especially since my granddaughter lives in Ottawa and likes to shop at Rideau Centre, a mall just a couple of blocks away.  I called her to make sure she was safe (she was sick in bed).
I watched TV all morning yesterday.  It looked like an episode from NCIS - they really do move like they do on the cop shows!  It was shocking to see the shootout in the Centre Block - I have visited there a few times.  Any Canadians who think that it can't happen here now know that we too are vulnerable.
There is always an upside though.  Cevyn has been accepted to college to study "Theatre Prosthetics".  I think that is what it is called.  She will be learning stage make up etc.  She will start in January.

Totally shocking and I am so sorry for the victim and his family. Just SO wrong! And yes, it can happen anytime, anywhere. Scary realization.

Happy Cevyn is OK....sorry she\'s sick though! Major KUDOS to her for the college acceptance! Sounds VERY interesting!!!

Oh, once that bubble has been bust it\'s heartbreaking. I\'m so sorry, Marlene, as I truly believe we don\'t serve our mentally ill as we should because at the bottom of it is always someone who needed help. Not blaming society, just the reality that there are many who suffer greatly and do not value their lives or those of others. Just makes my heart and whole being so very sad.

Knowing you are smiling over Cevyn and how fascinating! I\'m sure she will thrive and don\'t you know Lisa is beyond proud of her beautiful and amazing granddaughter as are you.

Gentle care today and turn that TV off when you\'ve had enough.

Loving care dearest Marlene,

Oh Marlene, I am so sorry! I know what it is like watching TV all day because I am fairly sure you may remember Columbine and/or The Theater Shooting which were both on my territory. If not, you don\'t want to remember!!!

Such good news about Cevyn! That sounds like fun!

WOW that sounds like such a fun thing to have a career in -- Theatre Prosthetics. Kudos to Ceyvn.

Yes the shooting in Ottawa was shocking. Unfortunately it happens so often in the States that we have become desensitized to it. We have more than our share of crazies I think. So very sad. Our heart goes out to all the Canadian people because this effects everyone. Once something like this happens you know that it can happen and might happen anywhere.

Canada has been such a peaceful country for so long, this shooting has the fell of violating and innocent child, and our hearts ache for the soldier that was killed and his family.

Big Hugs,
Terry.

Yes, violence is alive & well and it is everywhere! I am sure it was more of a shock to Canadians\' than those of us who live in high crime states. I am so sorry, for the victem & his family.

I am intrigued by Cevyn and her choice of study. I love all types of Theatre, make up, costumes, etc...Congratulations, on her college acceptance !!!!

Marlene,

I was shocked too when I heard about the shooting. Canada\'s a nation of peace & to us here in the U.S., the shooting there is just unbelievable!!! Unfortunately, these kinds of things really can happen anywhere in this day & age.
Prayers for the young soldier, his family & friends. He has a young son who\'ll have to grow up w/o his Dad now. My heart goes out to them all.

Hugs,
Donna

Such a blessing your Cevyn was no where near the area that the shooting took place. My heart just aches for the victim\'s family. So senseless.
Great news for her to be accepted to college and I hope her choice of study and career make her very happy.
