Green Smiley Monday

It is green smiley because of good friends and good times.
It has been a busy but good weekend.  My friend and her daughter came down for the weekend.  On Friday we went to a healing drum circle.  They have one very Friday evening.  A new leader lead it - a young fellow who is a social worker.  I was shocked when he said that he was dedicating the meditative portion to mothers who had lost children!  I have been there many times but never has anyone dedicated anything to anyone.  Of course the tears flowed.  He also asked us to meet a person who you do not know.  My friend met a lady who had lost a chile 20 years ago.  I introduced myself to her and shared that I had lost my daughter.  It was immediately hug time.  When she mentioned that it had been 20 years, I said "And I bet it still hurts".  She agreed.  She said that the drum circle helps her to cope.  I know that Lisa was there this time.  I felt so calm and cared for.
On Saturday, I had a prior commitment to do a neighbourhood walk with our committee and city officials.  The goal is to identify the good, the bad and the ugly in the area in order to prioritize how to make our area more livable.  It was cold, a bit snowy, and windy but it was worth it.
Yesterday, we attended a Zoomer Show, an exhibition catering to people over 45.  The exhibits were not all that appealing but the entertainment was amazing.  Dan Hill, Leona Boyd and Pavlo, an energetic Greek guitarist, were excellent.  The best part was that the show was only $8 and another friend who came had free tickets for all of us, so we didn't even have to pay the 8 bucks!
This is going to be another busy week - Billy Bragg concert tonight, meetings tomorrow and orientation for my new contract on Wednesday.  I really cope better with work.
Wishing all a great week!
Lisa:  Thank you for coming to the drum circle.  I think you were there with other children who are in Heaven with you.  Knowing you, I suspect you organized it.  I miss you always and love you forever, Mummy

Drum circles are SO very powerful and how incredible to have it dedicated to parents who have lost a child and then to make that heart connection with another mother who understands this path. Wow! I have no doubt your LIsa had a hand in that.

Lots you are involved with and just be sure to have those moments of pause along the way to fill yourself up as I know you do.

Great always to hear from you in the midst of your full life dear Marlene and life is moving along. You are an active participant and have much to give. No grass growing under those feet! :)

Hope it begins to warm up a bit and of course a sunny day thrown in always helps.

With love,
XO Joanie

I love drum circles.....the only ones I\'ve even been a part of are the ones in Asheville, NC.....SO wonderful....very spiritual and primal....very uplifting....calming in an excited sort of way for me. SO neat and a great big WOW that a dedication was made to grieving moms! Awesome! And so wonderful that you could share Lisa with a new knowing friend. And yes, I know after 20 years if I\'m still here, my heart will still hurt.

You\'re a true inspiration Marlene and I love hearing all the things you stay involved with and all the fun things you do.

Keep LIVING girl!!!

Love you!
Love to Lisa!

Marlene, glad you are making use of good things. It\'s the experiences that keep us young and growing. I\'m sure Lisa is part of this. Sometimes I wonder if my life is just too dull for Jacob to visit, and he is so busy where he is. I hope and feel that he is as well loved where he is, than here with us, or more.
