What now?

I got a call from Andrew last evening.  He was feeling distraught.  He has suffered from depression for several years, since we had an accident where we were rear ended.  He was in the back seat and got whip lash.  It affected his inner ear so for several years, he suffered from dizziness and nausea.  It gradually dissipated but he was never able to do labor that involved climbing ladders (he had been a commercial painter - to pay for his real passion - writing and painting pictures).  He had to move back home with us and hated being dependent.
He eventually met his wife Tiina and moved to Edmonton.  They are both artists so income is sporadic.  Well he is now beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel.  After a lot of hard work and living at the poverty level, he has a contract to write a screen play for an animated movie.  Things were going quite well until his doctor decided to change his meds and was taking him off antidepressants.  This week, he bottomed out.  He was having panic attacks and was frantic because he was worried that it was upsetting Tiina.  He called last evening and sounded dreadful.  I decided to go to Edmonton (where I am now), a 3 hour drive, to spend some time with him. He rarely calls when he is having problems so I did not hesitate.
As I was on my way, my cell phone rang.  It was a friend who wanted me to go and visit her.  She was distraught because her husband left her!  I really hate answering the phone any more.  I felt bad that I could not be with her as she really has no support system. But family will always come first.
Sometimes I feel like I just want to go somewhere and hide.
Andrew saw a doctor today (his is on holiday now) and got some of his meds reinstated.  He seemed in a slightly better frame of mind this evening.
So it goes.  I wonder if I could really handle a quiet life!
Lisa:  I wish you were here to commiserate with.  I have been writing to you furiously but it just will never replace the heart to hearts we had.  Please watch over your big brother.  He needs you now.        I miss you always and love you forever, Mummy

How worrying but thank God he called you and asked for help I wish with all my heart that my Toby had called his Mom so it shows what a wonderful relationship you have. I pray he gets through this difficult time and write his screenplay. I\'m sure Lisa is looking out for him x love and blessings. Anne x

I am grateful that you are with Andrew and that he did make that call to you. Hoping that everything gets regulated and only the most positive thoughts for his screenplay. That is amazing!

So sorry about your friend yet as you said family must come first. I\'m sure she understands and that there will be another time when you can be with her.

My late mom used to say that she longed for a \"dull\" day or two. What that meant to her were no phone calls involving crisis and a time to just BE. I hear you on that and understand what you are describing dear Marlene.

Tightest of hugs to you and your son and I have no doubt that Lisa is keeping a watchful eye out on her mum and brother.

Loving care to you dear friend and be safe out on the road driving too.

XO Joanie

It\'s because you are such a caring loving person that people come to you for support. Yes your son must come first and I hope your friend can understand that.

How exciting about the screen play contract. You must be very proud. I\'ll probably get to see the movie with my grandkids. We see all the animated movies.

Sending Love to you, Marlene

You did good!! We must not kick ourselves for what we cannot do but instead must celebrate all we are able to achieve.

Remember, the job of Wonder Women is a job NO ONE really wants.

((hugs))

I know that feeling of just wanting to run and hide forever! We cannot be everywhere at once, as much as we wish to. You are doing good, hang in there! I hope Andrew pursues his passion. My son, Jason, has a bachelor of science in film. I wish he would pursue his passion for film instead of being a drug addict Hugs, Belinda

I know that feeling. Needing to be in several places, all at the same time. I am so proud of your son, for following his dreams. I went to my doctor yesterday and am going to try to stop taking my anti-depressants. Don\'t know if that is the right thing to do or not. The zoloft stopped working for me. Any way, I do hope they get your sons medication straight...
