Green Smiley Monday
Well the new year has arrived. I wonder what the year will bring.
The green smiley bit is:
I had a lovely surprise from my son at the stroke of midnight. He called us and we had a good chat.
We brought in the new year with our friend in London Ontario with wine, seafood and catching up.
Those are the green smiley bits.
I was happy to spend Christmas with my granddaughter and visit Lisa's grave but I am happy to be here where I feel more at home. Frankly I was tired of living with a Martha Stewart clone! Beth is a lovely lady but she is over the top when it comes to decorating and housecleaning. I must admit I am not a neat freak in any sense. I do not light candles and set the table with cloth napkins for every meal.
Now for the not so smiley part. Joe is sick. He has a wicked cold and is pretty well flattened. I feel bad for him. He really couldn't enjoy his favourite food last night.
We got an email from his sister. She has advanced ovarian cancer. We tried calling on Christmas but there was no answer. The good part is that she and her husband were in Banff and had a nice time. The not so good part is that the chemo is not working and she is now palliative. She is aware of her prognosis and trying to make the best of it.
So we are looking forward to this year with some trepidation.

Marlene, sorry about Joe\'s cold. And the news about his sister. Heartbreaking...Cancer is such a terrible disease. The word itself is chilling! I am so very sorry. It is good to be home, isn\'t it? And the good bits are good.I am like you in that I am not as formal as Beth but I do love to have people over or see them but in a less formal way.

I am so sorry to hear about Joe\'s sister (and Joe)--that must be difficult news to digest, about her condition. Some people do do better than originally expected or predicted and I surely hope that will be the case for Joe\'s sister. It must be very hard tho, nonetheless. I will add her to my prayer list.
I know it wasn\'t easy visiting Lisa\'s grave. I am glad that you had supportive family with you, Marlene.
I am not comfortable in a Martha Stewart kind of environment either. We all have to prioritize and for me, housekeeping is, I\'m afraid quite frankly not at the top of my list! I keep it \"clean\" but I feel no one\'s gonna eat off the kitchen floor, right?! Keep your energy for what\'s truly important...HEALING! I\'m glad that you did enjoy the wine and seafood with a good friend, ringing in The New Year!\"

The good and the not so good....the awesome and the awful.....I guess that\'s always the way of human life. My love and prayers for Joe and his sister and her husband. I rejoice with you in the special midnight call. Much love to you sweet friend and a gentle and joyous new year.
