Green Smiley Monday
Well, it is Monday again. I do try to journal on Mondays. Life is okay here. Joe and I are doing resident satisfaction surveys in nursing homes. They are part of the organization I worked for and in fact was the manager at both the homes that we are responsible for. It is fun to visit with the residents and hear what they like and don't like. The results of the surveys are fairly close to what I expected. Carewest is the public continuing care provider in Calgary. Without the profit motive, there is more staff to care for residents and do upgrading. The responses from the residents reflect that.
So I am thankful for the job - it also gets me out of the house. I am very prone to becoming a couch potato if I don't have somewhere I need to go.
I am thankful for my health. I spoke with a 58 year old lady who has advanced MS. She no longer has use of her hands or feet. She rings the call bell by blowing in to a tube. She speaks very quietly. I wouldn't wish that disease on anyone.
I am thankful for the reprieve in the weather. It was frigid with a wind chill over the weekend. Today it went almost up to the freezing point!
It is getting closer and closer to Lisa's Angel Date. I can't believe it is 2 years already. I still have a dread of hairdressers - I go when I am out and walk in. If they can cut my hair then, I stay. I was at the hairdresser when I got the call that Lisa had a cardiac arrest. I have been reliving that day and the days after in my mind. But so far I have not lost it - so far...
So all in all it is an okay day.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends!
