Green Smiley Monday

It has been awhile since I commented on Green Smiley Monday!  Life has been quite an adventure during the last couple of months.  Our Camino Santiago pilgrimage was wonderful.  I had no idea that walking could be so peaceful, or that I could walk around 350 miles in 30 days.
The walk really was a metaphor for life.  You never know what is in store.  So with the Camino, you never know what to expect. We experienced happy days, difficult days, sad days, and boring days.  You never knew what the trail would be like - flat, paved, rough and rocky, dusty or steep. We had several climbs (though we avoided the very steep mountains as Joe has a bad knee).  The ones we did were not always easy.  Climbing, we would be certain that were near the top, only to turn a corner and find a steeper hill!  Coming down was often more difficult as the ground was gravelly - and there were no switchbacks.  We never knew who we would meet each day.  We would walk alone or with someone for awhile.  We were all there for our own reasons. Despite the weather  (which varied from blazing hot in August to very cool in the morning near the end of September) we walked.  I really liked the fact that all I had to do was don my backpack and walking poles each day and look forward to what the road had in store.
It is a green smiley Monday and I am home for a bit and feeling okay.
I hope all have a great week.

So delighted you are home now and what an adventure it was for you in so many ways. I know that you were training and trying to get ready to go and now here you are back home once again. I suspect precious moments will continue to bubble up for you even now. You were missed my friend. Gentle care as you ease into \"this life\" now. Love and hugs, Joanie

What an adventure it must have been...to never know what the outcome around the next venture or over the hillside..reminds me of a trip not as long that we took on our motorcycle...we began in the lower states and came north..there was not really much to see as we thought there would be..mostly just trees..some curves...and to find gas or food you had to get off and ride for miles to find it..the three main adventures we had was when we stopped by the side of the road to relax and out of the wilderness came a very rugged tall skinny man pushing a bike..at first we were a bit scared of not knowing the outcome of him...as on his bike was everything he owned..and on the front of the bike was a homemade spear..Being the only ones on the road we wondered whether we should start of the bike and take off but decided not too..He turned out to be a true mountain man,,,,he lived in the woods..he ate from the woods with his spear...and cooked with the wood he found in the woods to burn...He had the long long shaggy beard..maybe a couple of teeth..He asked for nothing and seemed so contented..We spent some time with him before he had to go as he said the sun was getting low...We asked him why did he live in the woods and he responded..Peace,,,so Peaceful...I am sure if we had been able to spend some time with him we may have found the true meaning of the happiness of life SIMPLE...next we came upon an exit and found this place to eat ran by three sister\'s..only lunch ..not much to look at as you walked in the building(but that is what we love, finding places people don\'t usually eat at)...we had the most wonderful meal and hearing the stories of old made for what seemed to be a very boring ride...our final third excitement for us was when we finally found the end of the road that took us bad to reality..but looking back on the ride..it gave a lot of time to think, reflect, meet people you would never meet on the highways..a lot of riding with nothing to see but the journey turned out to give us a new view of how some live life so simple...I am glad you are back..you were very missed...Sandi
