Me

Hey there all. I haven't been on in sometime. Thought I'd vent a little. I've been having a see saw problem for years with my ex and no matter what I do I can not seem to shake this horrible feeling of guilt out of my head! The funny thing about it is, I haven't done a thing to be guilty of. What is up with that?! I wish I could get out and get back into the swing of things, maybe even date again, but with this nagging feeling of guilt I can't seem to even get the motor running, sotospeak. I know I love my ex but with all his problems I've been doing my best to stay away from him. Its what's in my head that won't leave me alone. I've even tried church, but its not my style. Does anyone have any suggestions? Please! This is driving me nuts..... if I were a squirl I'd be set for life... that's how bad this is. I need to let go and burn this crap up so it can't drag me down any further that it has!  SJH

Maybe it would help to talk it through with a counselor, but you probably need to get to the bottom of the guilty feeling before you can move on. It sounds like you need to forgive yourself for something. Maybe it wasn\'t your fault, perhaps it couldn\'t be helped, and maybe it is just a baseless belief someone put into your head. (it happens!)
There is an exercise you can try for yourself. Get a piece of paper, write the word \'guilty\' at the top, and then start associating the word in your mind, making a note of every think you think of. When you get stuck, put the sheet aside. When the feeling come back, bring out the sheet of paper and add anything else that comes to mind. When your mind is clear, bring out the sheet and see if the pieces of the puzzle have come together.
