I am confused and have been for a while. Here's why, My husband has PTSD that is at its worst stage right now. I am torn inside becuase of all the things I hear and know. First of all we are struggling financially and have been since my daughter got molested about 1year and a half ago. My husband has been through rapes and other crap through his life and our daughters molestation is all it took for his PTSD to reach its full potential. He tried working but I would see him day in and day out in danger and I could not take it no more. He was sick all the time and it was just horrible. Those of you with PTSD know what I am talking about. I did not understand and know that he had PTSD but we new something was terribly wrong. I on the other hand had stopped working 3months prior to my daughters molestation because I was terribly sick with panic attacks and anxiety. The doctor ordered me to stop working or die (I get heart palpitations). So of course with a 3yr. and a 5yr. and a husband I stopped working. When my husband had to stop working I started volunteering at our home church. Our church pastor started helping us financialy and then praise god they offered me a job as the church seceratery. Of course I accepted but they were only able to pay me 21hours worth of pay. Which cannot support my family alone. Doctor and Phychiatrist advised me not to work more that the 61/2hours but I am currently working full time and on Sundays. And praise God that I am able to work full time. The church is trying to increase my pay but the church is not doing well at this moment so I have to wait. Here is where my confusion comes in, people insist that my husband should work. Part of me agrees that he should but a big part of me feels like he should not until he gets better. There is a cycle we go through everytime my husband works, he works and then his PTSD strikes and it is the most horrible thing for us. I start getting angry becuase I wish I could heal him and then I get depressed becuase I hate seeing my husband hurt so much. And this is not good for me or him becuase he is going through hell and I am just adding to it. I love my husband so very much and despite of his PTSD he has made me so happy. So I told him I wanted him to get treatment and start taking care of himself so that he can be stable enough to work. But then here we are struggling financially, I have a lot of faith and know that we are going to make it through this. I wish people could understand PTSD. Our church members are constantly hounding us that he should get a job. So do I let him work and live a life of misery or make sure that he gets treatment and goes to his doctors and phychiatrits appointments and live with hope for our future? Confused
