DYING SOBER--- Went to a memorial service for a friend yesterday he died two weeks ago. Awhile back he was informed he had lung cancer and started all the treatments they do, then he recieved a call 3 weeks ago Thursday that he had brain cancerand be would not be on this planet much longer. The next day we walked into a meeting together and we never mentioned it. In the meeting he was called on to share and there was not one thing mentioned what he was going through. He talked about how grateful he was for being sober, doing this deal one day at a time and working with others. By the we just celerbated 21 years of recovery a few days early. That was last time I seen Jim he died 3 days later. Yestrerday over 150 people in the program show up at the memorial and his family didn't have a clue he had so many friends. For myself that Friday morning meeting, the last time I seen Jim I will never forget in his sharing. As he would say often I was wiling to go to any lenght to achieve recovery.and helping others that was so freely given to him. To Recovery and stay in the day. until next time
