11 plus weeks and pneumonia is still rearing its ugly face

I believe I have already posted that on January 19th of this year I was rushed to the hospital thinking I was having a heart attack, only to find out I had pneumonia. They stated that it was caused by a influenza bug that smaller children get, so I figure one of my grandsons was hosting it from school friends as they never got sick. I was put on Levoquin 750 mg for 10 days then 50o mg for another 5 days as I was having hernia surgery on February 1st. After surgery I was on another antibiotic that really was not supposed to work on pneumonia but it actually helped me more then the Levoquin did. Since then I have had 3 more sets of chest x-rays and then a ct scan to see what was going on as going into March I still was not much better. The ct showed that there was still some pneumonia in the lingula part of my left lung, but the greater concern was they found a tumor on my thyroid measuring 1.6 centimeters, which is large for a tumor there. My surgeon saw that and had it biopsied immediately. Well on monday of this week I got a note from my surgeon that it is benign and we will have re-ultrasounded again in a year.
The week prior to Easter I ended up taking my boyfriend to the er and he was diagnosed with bronchitis and sent home with steroids and antibiotic and cough suppressant. He started to feel better with in 2 days. Then comes this last weekend and I start coughing again worse the before, but still as it has been since first told I had pneumonia a dry cough. I tried to get into the doc on Monday but had no driver, so went and saw a different doctor then my normal one on Tuesday. I left him more confused then anything other then he ran blood tests and ordered a ct scan. Had the ct scan on thursday and by thursday evening was so sick my boyfriend forced me to go to the er.
By nature because I am a chronic intractable pain patient I try to avoid going in because I do not want to be seen as a drug seeker. But I called the on call doctor and he said with breathing problems and pain to get in right away. I got there between 9:30 and 10 pm and was admitted by midnight, fastest ever. They had run a lot of blood tests and were able to get a hold of the results of my scan from earlier in the day and with that info decided it would be best for me to stay. Went through lots of nebulizer treatments, IV antibiotics and steroids and was sent home yesterday afternoon with my one nebulizer, oral steroids and antibiotics. Have to see my doctor this week and then also a lung specialist. That last one worries me as it is something new and change is hard to accept when it comes to my medical care. I have already had a kidney removed due to cancer, just had a tumor biopsied on my thyroid, which at this time is benign, and now this.
I had been doing great on keeping my chronic pain lower, losing weight, and able to be walking 12750 steps 4 times a week. Now I have been down for almost 12 weeks and gained some of the weight back because I have had to take it really easy as I get weak really quickly since this all began.
I know God has a reason for it all and will guide me through. But the human side of me wants to be back to my normal and move forward in a positive way that had begun 2 days before christmas. My boyfriend is absolutely wonderful, supportive, caring and just keeps saying no worries honey we will get through this together. I have truly been blessed since meeting him in so many ways. he has gotten me to wanting to go to church, and his church has accepted me with open hearts and minds, no questions, just as I am. His father has filled the void left when I lost my father in 1979, a place my step-father was never able to fill. His sons and grandsons that also are wonderful and accepting of me, plus numerous other new friends. I never thought I would find happiness like this again. Then practically from the start I have been sick. I just do not understand except that God is testing us and our weaknesses to make sure our strength is in place. I feel so far we are passing with flying colors and I pray we continue.
Just had to get this out, have found by writing my stories helps me to understand things better and sometimes just figure out for myself what is going on and why. At this time I have not figured it out though.

Journaling is indeed so very healing and I hope that you always feel lighter in some way after sharing as I know I do.

Take good care of yourself and I\'m grateful you have your boyfriend in your life to share the triumphs as well as the challenging times.

One step and hopefully easier breath to breathe at a time.

Loving care,
XO Joanie

So sorry to hear you still are not feeling well. As one of our other moms said it is hard to know how bad you are feeling when you are chronically ill. I remember that from when I was so ill. I am happy to hear things are still going well with your boyfriend and his church and that journaling helps you feel better. I am sending love and prayers for you to feel better soon, Leda
