Wow, my H is on my side.  He said he could not understand what is wrong with his aunts.  He said he was sorry that his family had acted that way.  He just held me as I cried it out.   There are days when I feel like we are not doing so well, then days like yesterday happen and I love him.  I have decided that if they have the funeral by Wednesday, we will go as a family.  Otherwise my H will be going by himself as the kids will be back to school.  Our daughter has a school-wide spelling bee that she needs to participate in.  She won the class spelling bee and Friday will be the school spelling bee.  She has been studying the words so hard and knows them well.  She is 10 yrs. old in the 5th grade.  If she wins the school spelling bee, she will go against the entire county.  She is so excited to do this.  I cannot make her miss this.  She has been practicing so hard. So, I have chosen to stay home with the kids if the funeral is later this week.  My H will have to go by himself.  I hate that I am doing that to him, but I just can't disappoint my child that way either.  Not when I know that our being at the funeral will not make a difference to that family.  It would, maybe, to the aunt but not the others. My H understands.  That is what he is telling me.  I hope it is so. I just feel so conflicted about this.  I feel that we need to go but at the same time... I don't want to.  What does that say about me as a person?  I feel so badly for the family but at the same time my own pain is almost blinding. I heard the aunt cry out when her husband passed away.  It was a horrible, gutteral sound!  That is how I feel most days except I can't let it out.  I can't let my kids see or hear it.  We do not argue in front of them.  They do not know about his affair.  How do you tell a 12 yr. old boy and 10 yr. old girl that their daddy acted this way?  I can't and don't want to.  I don't want to tarnish him in their eyes.  They love him so and he is a very good father to them.  I know that they absolutely would not understand a divorce.  I don't want a divorce either.  I am trying to get through this the best way possible, but it is so hard.  We are at least talking to each other and trying to understand what is going on.  He tells me that he understands the feelings I have.   Most days I can not concentrate on work or anything else for that matter.  Most days, I have a hard time putting 2 thoughts together.  I am trying not to wallow in the pain.  I get out of bed.  I go to work.  I cook dinner.  I take care of our kids.  I do, but the pain is always there.  I listen to the radio and any given song could put me close to tears.  I am having to reclaim every aspect of our marriage, including places we went to and things we saw.  She was with us, literally!  She was a part of many outings with us as a family.  She did a lot with us.  We included her and she betrayed us.  She took away our happy family with him.  He betrayed us! There were very few occasions over the last 3 years that did not involve her.  I felt pity for her being alone and included her in our family outings, our family fun nights...our family!  To be betrayed like this, is awful!!! I hope she thinks it was worth it.  I know he doesn't!  He regrets every moment of her being in our lives.  I do too.  I realize now that I do hate her for what she has done to our family.  I also hold some similar feelings to my H for doing this to us.  For shattering our lives!

Hi Shawnda,
So sorry for what you\'re going through right now. I feel the same way a lot. It\'s so hard to concentrate on work or bills or anything. I feel like I\'m so distracted that I\'m almost incapable of completing anything. I also understand how hard it is to pretend that all is well in front of the kids. Mine are 10 and 6 and, of course, I could never tell them. It\'s so hard to pretend everything\'s ok. A lot of times, I\'ll just say I have a headache and just go lay down. This definitely has affected my parenting. I\'ve been so depressed that it affects everything really.

I\'m trying so hard not to obsess about the OW or thoughts of them together but not a day (or probably an hour) goes by w/o me thinking of it. The whole thing is just so horrible.

Please know that you\'re in my thoughts and I\'m here if you need me!

I know ...I am the same way. Not an hour goes by that I don\'t think of them together. It is hard. I told him that again last night. He told me that if he had really wanted her, he would have left that first night that he told me about them. He keeps telling me that I am who he wants. That I am the one he loves and that until that night when he told me, he didn\'t realize it. I told him that something has got to give. My heart can\'t take much more. I told him my heart was broken. He finished the sentence for me with \"and I will heal it\".

He has told me repeatedly how sorry he is that he did this to us. He keeps telling me how sorry he is for lying to me. He also tells me that I now know the entire truth...nothing left out. I want to believe him but every time he has said that...BAM another lie surfaces. What do I do? How do I keep dealing with this? I do love him very much but he is killing me inside with this.

I try not to obsess but I do. I try to be the best mom I can, but I might be failing as I cry a lot now. My heart had a horrible sinking feeling last night when our daughter came downstairs not 5 minutes after we finished talking and were about to come upstairs. I just knew that she had heard but I think our voices were so low that she didn\'t hear the conversation. She said she heard us talking low but not what we said. We both were so relieved!

We talk about this late at night after they go to bed or when they are not here just so they don\'t find out about it. I know that my daughter is still a little mad at me for breaking off a friendship with the OW but she can just be mad at me. It keeps the OW out of our house and keeps my daughter away from her.

I just hope that you and I both get some relief from this soon. I don\'t know how much more I can take. I thought we were doing better but then last week he admitted to lying to me about some of the affair detail. He came home Monday night after doing some computer tech work at our kids orthodontist\'s office to find me in tears. I told him that because I had not heard from him all afternoon (12:15 when I got the kids from him until 6 p.m.), I immediately thought the worst. That he was either with her or someone else. I went so far as to check his phone texts online...34 texts to a number I did\'t know! Freaked me out. So, when he got home, I was almost a basketcase. He showed me his phone and who it was from and the text wording...it was a co-worker asking questions about a customer\'s tech issue. I felt horrible that I grilled him but also felt justified at the same time. I told him that one more lie, our kids and I are gone. I really just don\'t know how much more stress I can handle.

I hope things get better for you too. It has to get better for us both this year.
