Anniversary

Well, today is our 19th anniversary. We plan on going to this new restaurant that I've been wanting to try, but too expensive to go to for "everyday". They specialize in crab & BBQ--mmm!

So I need to get a card for him. I also want to think up "what's good" to talk about, because it is our anniversary after all. It's not easy, with all my realizations lately. However I know it could be *way* worse & I'm glad it's not. But I can't just say, "I like being married to you because it could be worse!" That would be lame!
My son completed his homework this weekend, but he really dragged it out & only had 1 subject. I'm concerned for when things heat up. Hopefully he'll heat up too! But we'll see. He's been excellent as far as getting ready on time for school. I really think it's his being considerate of his sister. (Though if it were up to her, she'd leave even earlier! She likes to have a lot of time!)
Yesterday we had a memorial services for our ex-pastor's wife at the local park. It was a nice service, though kind of long if you had to stand the whole time (especially in heels!). But she deserved to have a good tribute, since she was such a nice person. Her son, who is an architect & designed a lot of the town's buildings, was able to get the town's permission to plant a tree near the pond. It's tall & thin, but it'll grow to be a pretty one.
The best part (though somewhat sad) was getting to see our former pastor again. My husband said that he looked like "a shell of his former self". But after hearing what kind of a year it's been for him & what his life has been like recently, it sounds like he's slowly "getting his legs" again. He's lost a lot of weight, so I told him to be sure to eat! He has to be careful of salt, he said, because of his heart health. He has to learn to cook for himself now, he says. I'm thinking maybe I'll explore the internet for low-salt 1 serving recipes to send him. Maybe find a specialized cookbook?

I kept a low profile for Sept 11th. I had 3 coworkers (from my old job) who were lost in the WTC collapse. Remembering that day is very disturbing & painful, because our office was very small & everyone basically freaked out when it happened. Plus, although the 10th anniversary is significant, I think the media is overly hyping it up. When something is on TV, it does not seem real. But these people were real & had families & all they did was go to work one day. So I remember, quietly.
