PPT
Well, we had the PPT for my son yesterday. Unfortunately, the counselor from the center was sick & couldn’t make it. (I was NOT pleased with this, since I had been working like crazy to make sure everyone’s schedule jived. But whatever.)
Overall, it went OK. I kind of felt that the academic side of the room kind of ganged up on my son whereas the social services side of the room sought to understand how the issues contributed to his performance. Bottom line is, everyone must defer to the PPT process.
It doesn’t look like anything significant will happen before the end of the year. We had a few easy strategies for my son to utilize in the meantime. Simultaneously, the school will be getting its own paperwork & stuff together, most of it by the end of the year. Some of it at the beginning of the next school year.
So it looks like this: do school assessments, my son will do the suggestions. Over the summer, I’d like to continue to get our relationship on good track—which it is trending in that direction—and to see what strategies we can do in the meantime to get him “lined up” for the next school year. I’m not sure if he’s going to be needing to go to summer school, or if (given the quick, shortened time of summer school) it would be a bad idea. This is something I’ll need to talk to the counselor about.
