My grandson Joshua thought he had lost his last text messages from Eddie from his cell phone. Well the good news is that he found them! These were the last communications Joshua had with his Dad. Thursday night after Eddie came home from work his children Josh & Christina went to visit him as was their usual practice. They stayed until about 1am since noone had school or work the next day. After Josh & Christina went home, (they live with their mom),Eddie texted Joshua since Josh & his girlfriend had had an argument & Eddie wanted to make sure Joshua was OK. (He was a wonderful father to both kids). Joshua texted back & said,"I'm OK Dad, how are you?" Eddie's last text to Joshua was, "I'm awesome my boy, just wanted to make sure you're OK." I guess after Eddie passed away shortly after this text to Joshua, I never quite processed these words. Joshua had showed me the text right after Eddie was found, but I think I was too much in shock to process it.
We know now that Eddie passed from a heart attack. AT the time I was so confused since I saw him the day before & he was fine! My grandchildren were with him until the wee hours of the morning on that horrible day, 9/4/09. He passed away somewhere between that last text at 1:00am& 11:00am that morning. The autopsy was not able to determine an approximate time of his passing.
Now that I have again read the text 11 months later I am blessed with this gift. My son felt as he said "Awesome" that awful night. This leads me to believe he didn't experience pain or fear. It is truly a gift & right as we approach Eddie's first Angel Date. He didn't say he was "fine" or "OK"; he said "Awesome". Truly a gift.
Thank you God for this gift! Love you Eddie, forever & ever. I know you are truly awesome now as you live with the King of Kings. But I still miss you so. Love, Mom.
P.S. You were a great Dad. I'm so proud of you.
