I was thinkin about Christmas as a child yesterday... Yeah I know thinkin can be dangerous for me lol... tends to cause a lot of smoke and all...

The year i'm thinkin about is 1959... first year at school...RedWood school just north of Vicksburg Ms...

I remember recievin a gift at school... but I don't remember no tree at home... no presents... don't even think I cared... cause we had Love... we was way poor... Dad was struggling to pay the house payments... keep food on the table...

I remember Oatmeal... for breakfast... and beans for supper... beans and cornbread... we had lots of that... some time deer burger... WE live in a Jim Walter home that wasn't completely sheetrocked.. Dad bedroom and the Bathroom was sheetrocked.. rest of the house had plastic stapled to the walls....

First Christmas I remember was in Texas...At my grandparents house... we still didn't have a tree at home... but there was some presents under a small decoration on a end table..

My Mom and Grandparents made such a big deal outta this Holiday... they even filmed it... yepp had one them fang dangled move makin thingy... bright lights and well home grown movies ya'll know what I mean...

My first Christmas... lots of toys and food... gosh never seen so much food in my life... the table looked like it was at least a half a mile long... it had food from one end to the other and there was this other fancy dresser lookin thing in the Kitchen that was heavy laden with more food, pies and cakes..

Well as you can imagine... the whole dang family was there before long, and Christmas day all my grandmothers brothers and sisters and well there was twelve of em... with their family and some had drove up from Houstin.. some down from Dallas, Lubbock and just all over... house full of people.. and kids.. and drinkin and a the carrying on was just out of this world to ME...

I felt so Alone...missin my Dad...and stepmom... who had been the only mom I knew untill a few short months before...So here in this Merry makin, with all the laughter and all I watched...

I wanted to go home... to my DAD... this is the second Christmas I remember....

the reason I don't remember Christmas with Dad was because I remember Love...
The second time I celebrated CHristmas I don't remember any love... just longing... and being afraid... Jeez...

sniff....

Okay... but ya should of seen some of the Christmases I do Remember... MY kids my family Lots Of LOVE....

That is what Christmas is about Love... God's love, love of family.. and love of Life... sharing and caring and the efforts it takes to be Lovin...

So yeah my first Christmas was kinda saddd... but hey... Christmas found me... Those presents under that tree... oh their great... I loved em... looked forward to them...
But I wanted to know what Christmas was about... so I read, and prayed and God showed me... not a preacher. or my grandmother... God took my hand... showed me Love...

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas filled with Love...

and I send My Love to all my friends... thank you for yours... RUss

Oh Russ, your Journal really touched me. From all that sadness you are one hellava sweet and loving guy. You bet God took your hand, he\'s still holding it tightly today. He brings people into our lives for a reason and you have so many here who really love and care about you. Count me in on that too, OK? Sandi
