I had an idea for a journal entry I'd calll
IT AINT NEWS...
Yeppers years ago I wrote a colum for a newletter at our place of employment...
Now this was one of the most dangerous places I've everworked in my life... and I've had a few...Oil fields, and saw mills...even drivin a cement truck with only one brake... oh yeah way fun...
But this job, was the MOST....
Two and a half years, I watched couple fellows die, get mangled, loose fingers hand leggs and it scared the hell outta me... specialy the 18 year old that pushed his scaffle into 18,000 volts of unrelenting electricity... it was nasty... I was never the same me after that one... I think it messed with my head a tad bit... I see this young man just as plain today as the day of the accident...
He survived the accident... lost his left arm and lung... and I aint even gonna tell ya the story... no nada... zilts... on that... but it was nasty take my word for it...only reason I brought it up was I just had a flash back...
Wonder how he's doing these days... sometimes my mind remembers things I don't wanna remember and I wonder if in these folks still kickin an screamin and is life treatin them okay...
In the it aint news department:
Those peanut butter cookies I made last nite did not survive my son...fact he ate all but four was like jeez kid, don't you ever think about anybody else... this is one of the areas I have not be sucessful in teachin my son... if it something he likes no one else counts... I'm serious this kinda bothers me... I'm trying to teach him to share... yeah rite...okay i worry too much...
The area here in Wisconsin seen some snow flurries yesterday... I like it... course I'm crazy... but hey you don't get snow where I grew up... well couple times way back in the sixties... for maybe a day... or so... we even made a snow man once lol..
I thinkin about tommorrow... It's Vetrans DAY... and I see these lame ass things on tv how folks wanna honor Vetrans....makes me wanna scream...
Lots of good it do the wave flags and blow whistles after the fact... the real honor would be better benefits and medical care at the VA... yeah... I'd buy that for a dollar... but we spend millions on walls to print names of those who died... and so very little on those that lived and suffer... makes lots of sense to me... but I'm just a disgrunted Vetran that don't see right... dam sure didn't hear no good new lol...
I know where theres vetrans livin on the street in Austin Texas... well If he still kickin and screamin...
This vet, can't control the flash backs he has... drinks and trys to drown out the memories... we use to hang out... I'd get him sober and well we get something to eat...talk he'd rattle off about the things that bothered him, and for a while he did okay... then I wondered off for what ever reason and next time I saw him he didn't even know who I was...screamed at me and threaten to kick my hinny (well ya don't wanna hear what he really said)
Yeppers tommorrow I be remembering the Vetrans of MY past... Vietnam... the ones that made it and the ones that, still struggle with needs that the VA can't seem to provide... I don't know how these younger vetrans have it but I don't reckon its much better than it was...
I have to wonder, how supportive we'd be if some country bigger and badder than US... decided that Brother George was a tyrant that needed to be put down... came over here and kicked out armies butt and told us we had to build a new government based on what they believed is better...
You reckon we'd fight back... try to throw a monkey wrench in the works...
YOU really reckon those folks in Iraq feel any different than we would...
Think about it...
Nawe probably not most folks too busy trying to earn enough money to pay that house payment and car payment to be worring about what our governing body is really doing...
Gass
Milk
Cost of living
Why can't we vote ourselves a raise...
I love this country, the freedoms of speech and beliefs...
I believe God really did bless the U.S.of A once upon atime...
So I'm gonna close and take my meds...
This old achey bod is a mess...
And well tommorow I'm gonna be thinking about our Vetrans... not me... those that paid a terrible price, and those still payin...
on that note..

Amen Russ. I used to, and still do, get so mad when I worked in the jail system and saw our tax dollars paying for child molesters to have air conditioning, cable t.v., and the absolute best medical care possible, while we have Veterans homeless and hungry on our streets that the government wont do a d!@n thing for.
Well, said my friend. Well said....
Thank you for reminding me. My Dad was a vet of WW2. He was a bomber pilot in the Air Force. My memory surely isn\'t what it used to be. We always put some kind of arrangement out on certain days of the year and it is my turn. Now you can only leave them in the cemetery on certain days and they have to be off at a certain time, which I think sucks, but nothing I can do about that. Take care Russ, my friend, there are still some of us left that respect, admire and haven\'t forgotten what you vets gave up for all of us that we may live the way we do. Thank you!! ~~Faye~~
