Independence Day: A day set aside to remember what our country is about. Somehow history has kinda faded in my mind. I remember reading the words Taxation without reprensentation. Seems so long ago I was trying to pay attention to the teacher as we struggled through history. I'd rather be outside playing cowboys and indians. I was born in the 50's, when I first started school there were no blacks going to school with us white folks. Girls and Boys were not allowed to play outside at the same time. Not in Texas anyway lol... we sent men to the moon, the cubain missle thingy, Duck and cover, should of been bend over and kiss ya a%% goodbye... Vietnam... The things I've seen change in time, price of bread go from 10 cents to a dollar, 14 cents a gallon gass go to 3.00 to 5.00 dollars a gallon. I find one fact, most disturbing. My dad worked and provided a living for our family with one job. Working for the state of Texas. Mostly he mowed the grass along the right of way. Now both parents struggle at one or two jobs, and the bills just keep piling up... I think about what today is suppose to mean...LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS... FREEDOM...this web site where strangers can come and write a journal, share their thoughts and hopes and comfort with one another. The ability to express our feelings, openly with out fear and humilations. (duh hope my spelling) Having a Homer moment...Today is a day for firing up the old grill, throwing a couple t-bones on the fire, brats, and beer, or ice tea, have a coke, whatever. put one some of your favorite music, CCR, Beatles, Willy Walon or Merle It don't matter because that is what today is about. Doing what we Americans do so well. Pursue happiness, The thing that makes this Country so great to me is the PEOPLE, AMERICAN CITIZENS...and all those that have hopes of becoming one. Happy 4th everyone, sorry I was so long winded...
