why?
Why is it that the people I know in my everyday life don't really talk about empty nest syndrome or depression caused by this? When I ask them about it they may say "Yeah, it was hard", but they don't really share their feelings like the people online. What are we afraid of? I've met some people who were actually happy when their kids left! And they complain when the sons or daughters return home!

I don\'t understand some people.Today, a friend who has an Masters in Social Work actually told me that I shouldn\'t feel down that my son is having an extremly difficult time physically and emotionally because it\'s \"not me\" and I can\'t change it.I pointed out to her that if a loved one dies, for example, it\'s not \"oneself\" and you can\'t change it,but you grieve nonetheless. She kind of agreed, but couldn\'t seem to see why my 17 yr old child\'s pain affected me.I think the \"ME DECADE\" had a lasting effect on some of this generation, where they favor pop psycology over feelings.
