Ambulance came took me away to a local hospital only people in the ambulance were me and the driver, it took around half an hour to get there and my ankle was killing me.When I got there i was surrounded by female spanish nurses all of them stunning none of them could speak english though unfortunately, the doctor soon came and took me to x ray he was the only person in the hospital that i met that could speak english, he got the x rays and showed my ankle and a bone in my leg was broken.Soon after a guy from the sky diving school turned up he told me he didnt think i was insured for thish and i was only insured third party which is if i caused damage to others or others property. I was shitting it as i thought this is going to be well expensive and i wouldnt be able to afford it! The doctor came and explained to me that i would soon need surguery, i said i wasnt insured he said okay he will give me a cast and told me i was taking a small risk flying back to england as i could get bad swelling if i fly and could get deep vain thrumbosis (sorry i cant spell) i weighed up my options and decided as i was getting my flight home in 36 hours that it would be worth the risk. A stunning nurse done up my leg in a cast and i was given some crutches 3 people from the skydiving club came to pick me up and take me back to the hotel where i could rest until i got my flight back, before i left i had to pay the hospital for all the work they had done which was 400 euros worth which was less then i thought thank God, i dont even wanna know how much the surgery would have cost.Got back to my hotel and the andy from the drop zone helped me get sorted he said hed be back in an hour with some food, 3.5 hours later he brought me some burger king back he said he was going back to england the next day and someone from the drop zone would take me to see some sky dives at 8 30 am next day and someone would check in on me.The next day came and no one came, at 12 i phoned up a lady from the drop zone and asked if she could book me a cab to the airport to pick me up at 4:45 am i also asked her to ring the aiports and tell them that i need wheel chair assistance untill i get to heathrow! she said she would call back soon i also asked her where the nearest shops are she explained to me!I walked for what seemed like miles i was sweating like a pig and i finally got to a super market shop which was really small but i was really pissed off the shop was closed bloody spanish and there siestas, i would have to come back in 2 hours time, 3 hours later i phoned the drop zone and asked if my cab was booked she said it was and that she was trying to find someone spanish to phone the airports up as she cant speak spainish! I phoned my boss up and he did it for me thank god.I done the long walk to the shop again and lots of spanish people came up to me and started asking me in spanish about my leg i didnt understand a word i just wanted to get on with the walk it was a killer and once i got to the shop it was open i brought some cheese some drink and some bread all the other food i didnt really know what it was and the variety wasnt that huge, i hung the bag over one of the crutches and walk up hill to where my hotel was, it took ages i went and paid the hotel for my stay there and used my phrase book to say i would be leaving at 4 45 and what do i do with the keys eventually she understood me and told me to leave them in the door at the back, i thanked her and crossed the street to the side of the hotel which i was staying at the cleaner was in there so i had to wait outside sittin on the stairs, i got in and rang my girl friend she was really worried about me and worried about how i was going to get back on my own, i assured her i was going to be okay and let her know that things were set up for me to get back.Back in the hotel i was really bored and every time i had to do something it was a real effort and it was really getting on my nerves, I rang the drop zone back up and asked them for the cab companies number just in case they didnt show as if i missed my flight i was screwed she said if the cab doesnt show just to ring her (as the drop zone hadnt lived up to its promises thus far i was taking no chances) i said i would do this but i still wanted the number to be sure.Packing was a real effort it took me like 4 hours and i was knackered by the time i finished, i went to a resturant that i had gone to when i first came to spain it was far away but it was a good atmosphere in there and i could watch england destroy russia 3 0 there and have a pizza the walk wasnt so bad as it was raining and it cooled me down.next day i woke at 4 and got myself ready to go home lifting 2 heaving bags one at a time outside the hotel took all the strength i had luckily the cab driver was there straight away and took me to the airport in really quick time, i was getting a plane to madrid and from there a plane to heathrow all the time i stopped i was put in a wheel chair and asked to wait while untill the planes were boarding, so i couldnt get to look around the shops the waits seemed to last forever and the madrid to heathrow was delayed by an hour i let my boss know as he was picking me up in london. To cut along story short i got home okay went back to hospital had an operation to fix the bones with screws and pins and was told i wouldnt be able to play football for 6 months (worst news ever!) Im back home now just need a check up on thursday then i can start to walk normally in 8 weeks hopefully, only good thing to come out of this is it had brought me and my girl friend alot closer!hope everyones good richie
